I have always been a yogurt person, that is one thing that I’ve always loved since I was a kid and I still eat it to the day. I believe that it makes a great breakfast and usually have at least one a day.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal time and effort, this recipe comes together quickly.
- You can switch it up to any fruit that you like.
- You can use flavored yogurt instead of sweetening with maple syrup.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Plain low-fat yogurt Milk Maple syrup Vanilla Blueberries Strawberries
See how easy those ingredients are? Like you can’t not make this Yogurt Bark! Trust me once you give it a try you will fall in love.
As simple it is to make, it is seriously addictive and you will want to keep munching on it all day like, at least I do, but I’m a yogurt addict so it makes sense.
HOW TO MAKE YOGURT BARK:
- Line a 9×13 baking dish or sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium to large mixing bowl add the yogurt, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla, stir to combine.
- Pour the yogurt mixture into the lined sheet pan and spread out evenly until covering the bottom of parchment paper.
- Add the fruit and place it on top of and in the yogurt. You can decorate the surface of the yogurt any way you want. Thin slices of strawberry work well here.
- Place the sheet pan in the freezer for 4+ hours, until the yogurt is frozen all the way through.
- Lift parchment paper out of the pan and peel off the frozen yogurt. Break into 3 to four-inch pieces and serve.
WHAT IS YOGURT BARK?
Yogurt Bark is essentially yogurt that is mixed with some other ingredients that is spread out and topped with various toppings and frozen until solid. It is then broken up into pieces or “bark” and consumed as is. It is a usually healthy snack that is served cold. We absolutely can’t get enough of this recipe. We make it more often than not, especially in the warmer months as it is a great snack that will cool you down. I would take a piece of this over a popsicle any day. The flavor is there and since it is studded with fresh fruit it makes it even better because you get even more bursts of flavor in each bite.WHAT OTHER TOPPINGS CAN I USE?
- Granola
- Nuts
- Chocolate chips
- Cereals
- Various fruits
HOW TO STORE:
This recipe needs to remain frozen or it will start to melt. We like to store ours in a freezer bag and keep it in the freezer where it will keep for up to 3 months. Just pull out slices when you want to enjoy some!TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use any variety of yogurt or milk you wish. Plant-based yogurts and plant-based milk work just as well.
- If you want a more brittle bark you can add a cup of milk to thin out the yogurt. The milk adds more liquid to the yogurt mixture and therefore makes the bark more brittle and slightly denser.
- Top with anything that you like, like I said earlier anything that you think would taste good with yogurt will work!
- Using plain unsweetened yogurt allows you to sweeten it as you wish but you can also use sweetened and flavored yogurts as they work just as well.
- This needs to be kept frozen or it will melt.
