With only 4 ingredients and about 20 minutes, these Mummy Dogs make the perfect spooky lunch or dinner for this upcoming Halloween Season.
I’m a sucker for anything related to Halloween, it is one of my favorite holidays. I don’t think there is a year that hasn’t passed that I have not dressed up, even as an adult.
Now having a kid, it’s so much more fun because it’s a whole family thing. And fun treats are all rolled into that, including these easy-peasy Mummy Dogs.
My daughter absolutely cannot get enough of these, but neither can I. They are a fun twist on your normal hot dog with easily available ingredients.
There is no reason not to make a batch of these, trust me, the kids will be all over these. They make a great lunch or breakfast and are handheld, and you don’t even have to worry about a messy bun.
If you want to make some fun treats this Halloween, then I highly suggest that you start with these Mummy Dogs, they will be requested every year.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- Minimal and easy ingredients.
- They make a nice sized batch.
- They are super fun for the amount of work you have to put in.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Hot dogs
Crescent roll dough sheet
Ketchup
Candy googly eyes
Your favorite sauce for dipping
HOW TO MAKE MUMMY DOGS:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper, set aside.
- Pat the hot dogs dry with paper towels, set aside.
- Roll out the crescent dough and cut it into ¼ inch strips.
- Wrap the hot dogs with the strips of the dough, gently stretching it as you wrap. Make sure to leave some room for the eyes. I like to make it so you can see some of the hot dog poking out, but you can make them as covered up as you want. Try to make it so the seams of the dough are on the underside of the hot dog.
- Place the hot dogs, seam side down onto the sheet trays.
- Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown and the hot dogs are warmed through.
- Let the mummies cool on the tray for 5 minutes. Put a little dab of the ketchup on the back of a googly eye and place it onto the hot dog so it will stick. Repeat with all the eyes and mummies.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
CAN I ADD ANYTHING TO THIS RECIPE?
If you want, cheese is a great addition to the recipe and can give it some more flavor. You will need larger strips of your crescent dough, but you just wrap a slice of American cheese around the hot dogs and then follow the remaining directions.
WHAT ARE SOME GOOD DIPPING SAUCES?
Some of our favorite dipping sauces that would work great for these depending on your age include:
- Honey Mustard
- Ranch
- Burger Sauce
- BBQ Sauce
- Cheese Sauce
- Spicy Brown Mustard
- Beer Cheese (for adults only)
DO I HAVE TO USE CRESCNT DOUGH SHEETS?
This is highly recommended for making these Mummy Dogs. It is an uncut dough, and you can cut it with no issues for this recipe.
If you cannot find it or want to use regular crescent roll dough, you can just make sure that you seal the seems well.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container where they will keep for up to 3 days.
They can also be frozen, place in a freezer bag, and they will keep frozen for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove from the freezer to the refrigerator until thawed. To reheat, we suggest covering with foil and heating in the oven until heated through, the microwave would make these soggy.

- Crescent dough sheets are highly recommended for this recipe.
- Use your favorite hot dog brand and flavor.
