Oh my goodness! You’re going to LOVE how delicious these Air Fryer Blueberry Hand Pies are!

They are super easy to make, absolutely delicious, and the perfect size for a quick dessert. My family loves them, especially my daughter Lily, who can’t get enough of them.

I remember the first time I made these small pies. It was a sunny afternoon, and Lily was helping me in the kitchen.

She loved cutting out the circles with the cookie cutter and filling them with the blueberry pie filling.

The best part was watching her eyes light up when she took her first bite. These little pies are not just a treat, but a fun activity to share with your loved ones.

So, let’s get more into this easy and delicious dessert recipe and find out why Hand Pies are the best thing since sliced bread! Ha!

HOW TO MAKE HAND PIES:

  1. Thaw the pie crust per the directions on the back of the box.
  2. Roll out the pie crust on a well-floured work surface and cut out 3 5-inch circles from each crust. You can use a cookie cutter for this or trace around something that is 5-inches around. Discard the scraps.
  3. Place 2 tablespoons of the pie filling on the bottom half of the pie crust with a ½ inch border.
  4. Dip a fingertip into some cold water and run it around the edge of the circle.
  5. Fold the crust over the filling and gently pinch the edges together. Take a fork and crimp the edges closed.
  6. Place the egg with a splash of water in a small bowl and whisk together well. Brush the egg wash all over the pies.
  7. Sprinkle the top of each hand pie with decorator’s sugar.
  8. Make 3 small slits in the pastry, this will help the pie release excess steam.
  9. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F for 5 minutes.
  10. Spray the basket with olive oil spray.
  11. Transfer the pies, not touching, into the basket. You may need to do this in batches.

  • Use homemade pie crust if you prefer making your own.

Refrigerator: Store any leftover hand pies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freezer: You can freeze the hand pies before or after air frying.

If freezing before, just follow the recipe up to the air frying step, then freeze the assembled pies. When ready to eat, air fry directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cook time.

If freezing after, let the pies cool completely, then freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer-safe container. Reheat in the air fryer until warm.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the hand pies up to the air frying step and freeze. Cook directly from frozen when ready to serve.
