About This Silly Girl’s Kitchen

Hi, I’m Jason Decker, and I run This Silly Girl’s Kitchen.

I’m not a culinary-school chef, and I won’t pretend to be. But I earned my stripes on a real kitchen line. I worked as a paid line cook through college, learning the craft the hard way, one dinner rush at a time. I never stopped cooking after that. For my family, for friends, for big parties where I was feeding a crowd, and now here, for you.

So when a recipe goes up on this site, it isn’t a guess. It’s been cooked, tested, and cooked again until it works the first time you make it. That’s the whole promise of this place.

The founder: Dana DeVolk

This Silly Girl’s Kitchen didn’t start with me. It started with Dana DeVolk.

Dana DeVolk, a culinary-trained chef, founded TSGK and built it over 12 years into a comfort-food home that thousands of cooks came back to again and again. Hundreds of the recipes here are hers. The warmth, the no-fuss approach, the idea that good food shouldn’t be complicated, that’s the foundation she laid, and it’s the reason TSGK was worth carrying forward.

In January 2026, my family and I took over the site, and I want to be straight with you about why.

When my kids were growing up, cooking shows were the one thing we could all agree on. Different ages, different moods, different opinions on everything else, but we’d all sit down together for a show about food. That was our thing. It kept us close.

So when the chance came to own the food brand that lived in exactly that space, it wasn’t really a business decision. It was a chance to plant our family’s flag in the thing that always brought us together. I’m building the next chapter of TSGK on the foundation Dana built, and I’m glad you’re here for it.

Who’s in the kitchen

This is a family project. My daughters Maddie and Lizzie help test recipes and work on our videos and posts, so when something gets the kid stamp of approval, you’ll know it actually got one. Real cooks, real kitchen, real Tuesday-night chaos. The bell pepper still rolls under the fridge in this house too.

How I run this place

Before TSGK, I spent 26 years in the auto industry. I started on the floor and worked my way up to General Manager, and the thing that got me there was a focus on systems and consistency.

That probably sounds like a strange thing to bring up on a recipe site. Here’s why it matters to you: it’s the same way I run this kitchen. Every recipe follows a process. Tested, measured, written so a brand-new cook can follow it and get it right. Consistency isn’t a corporate word here. It means the recipe works when you make it, every time. That’s what you’re trusting us with, and we take it seriously.

What you’ll find here

Easy comfort food. Copycat versions of the restaurant meals you love. Air fryer and slow cooker shortcuts that get dinner on the table without the stress. Everything here is built for real home cooks, especially if you’re newer to cooking and you just want a recipe you can trust to work.

If you make something from the site, I’d genuinely love to hear about it. Leave a rating, drop a comment, tell me how it went. That feedback is how this kitchen gets better, and it’s the best part of doing this.

Come cook with us.
