Christmas is fast approaching and I wanted to share with you one of my extra delicious recipes! These Chocolate Cherry Oreo Truffles!

Boy let me tell you, these things are highly irresistible and it’s hard not to eat a whole pan in one sitting. Trust me, I tried.

Oreo Truffle or Cookie Balls have become a classic dessert that looks super impressive but are the perfect go-to dessert or snack!

Also great for parties, they are super cute! I love this version I made because it looks like a classic chocolate-covered cherry but when you bite into it you get a yummy Oreo surprise!

The flavor of the Oreo’s and the cherry go so well together! Everyone will absolutely adore these. These are one of those treats that we bring to all the gatherings.

As much as I wish I was able to take some home with me, I never get to because the tray is literally gone at the end of the night, but that means that they are well-loved.

Some of my other favorite desserts that contain Oreos we have on our site include: No Bake Oreo Cheesecake, Oreo Fudge Brownies and Red Velvet Oreo Fudge.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

  • With only 5 ingredients this recipe is a breeze.
  • You can make as many or as little as you’d like.
  • You can use stemmed or plain cherries.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):

Oreos
Cream cheese
Maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry
Chocolate candy bark
Chocolate sprinkles optional

Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Cherry Oreo Truffles.

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE CHERRY OREO TRUFFLES:

  1. Place the Oreos in a food processor, pulse until it makes crumbs. Add in the cream cheese and pulse until combined.
  2. You can use a scoop like I did or your hands and place about a teaspoon of the Oreo mixture in the Tablespoon-sized scoop, smushing it so it goes up the sides and makes a little cup. Place a cherry in the center. Place some more of the cookie mixture around the stem on top and press to enclose the cherry. Take the cookie ball out of the scoop and round it out with your hands.
  3. Place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for one hour to set.
  4. Melt the candy bark in the microwave per the directions on the package. Dip the cookie balls into melted candy bark, tapping on the side of the bowl to get as much of the chocolate off as possible. Place it back on the lined cookie sheet. Immediately top with sprinkles if desired.
  5. Place back in the freezer for 10 minutes for the coating to harden. Serve and enjoy!

WHAT IS THE BEST CHOCOLATE TO USE FOR THESE?

We like to use chocolate bark with this recipe as it melts easier and is used more for decorating. So that is one of our go-to chocolate when it comes to these.

Some other options that you can use are candiquik or candy melts as well. Any good melting chocolate will work.

DO I HAVE TO USE STEMMED CHERRIES?

No, you can use regular maraschino cherries as well. The part that we like about the stemmed ones is that they give a hint as to what is inside and it makes them easier to dip.

WHAT ELSE CAN I SPRINKLE ON TOP OF THESE TRUFFLES?

We like to top these with chocolate sprinkles, but there are other things that you can top it with as well! Some of our favorites include chopped nuts, sanding sugar, and Oreo crumbs.

Whatever you think would look great and go with the flavor will work!

HOW TO STORE:

These will last in the refrigerator for up to one month properly stored, we usually put into an airtight container and layer them with parchment paper and stack them they should last up to 1 month in the refrigerator.

They can also be frozen! Place in a freezer container or a freezer bag and they should last up to 4 months in the freezer.

To defrost just let them sit in the refrigerator overnight to thaw out. They will be ok sitting out for a few hours, but if you are giving them to guests I always tag them for refrigeration.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • You can use chocolate bark, candiquik or chocolate melts for these.
  • Top with any of your favorite toppings, see some of my ideas above.
  • You can use stemmed or regular cherries.
  • These can be frozen, see my tips above.
  • You can double this recipe to make more for yourself, to save for later or for gifts.
