On our honeymoon a bajillion years ago, Jeremy and I went on a cruise with Carnival. The first drink we tried was their frozen Kiss On The Lips, and we were immediately hooked!

I have spent years perfecting this fruity drink, and I believe I have finally spot on, NAILED IT! You’re welcome.

If you didn’t know you needed this in your life, here is the sign, a MUST MAKE RECIPE. Okay, okay, as you can tell, I’m a little excited about this one.

Not only do I LOVE this refreshing cocktail, but it has a special place in my heart since we discovered it on our honeymoon, so it makes it extra special to me.

But, there is no denying the overall deliciousness. Even if I didn’t have any sentimental attachment to it, it would still be my favorite tropical cocktail, hands down.

And with only a handful of ingredients, it’s simple to throw everything in the blender, whizz it up and you’re sippin’ in no time.

If you love that mango flavor, then this Kiss on the Lips will be right up your alley. Perfect for warmer months, but also good year-round.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

DO I HAVE TO ADD RUM?

No, you do not have to add rum.

Sometimes if I’m looking for a drink that I can sip on all day long and not really get too much of a buzz, I’ll leave out the rum.

But, if you are looking for a classic cocktail, I would leave the rum.

If you are looking for another liquor to add in place of rum, you can add triple sec, an orange liqueur.

DO I NEED A BLENDER?

To make a frozen blended Kiss on the Lips, yes you will need a blender.

But, I have also enjoyed this on the rocks.

Just add the mango mix, rum, and peach schnapps to a cocktail shaker and strain over ice. Add a float of grenadine and you’re good to go!

WHY DO I STIR IN THE GRENADINE?

In step 3, we pour the grenadine into the blender after we have our frozen cocktail nice and smooth. Then, we stir it in.

Why do I do this? So, when we pour the cocktail into our cocktail glasses, it will come out with a swirl of color throughout the entire drink.

If you don’t feel like doing that step, you can just blend everything together, and it will still taste the same.

ARE THERE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS?

For sure. However, if you add any of these subs, it will not be exactly as the original, just keep that in mind.

Use mango puree, pure mango juice, or mango nectar instead of the mango cocktail mixer. However, these options may not be as sweet as the mixer, so taste and add simple syrup (try our recipe for simple syrup here) or agave nectar as needed.

Instead of white rum, use coconut rum, dark rum, silver tequila, or vodka.

Add other fruit juices such as lime juice, orange juice, or pineapple juice for a twist.

Adding frozen mango goes amazing in mango drinks, add this in place of the ice and amp up that mango flavor.

To make it a little creamy, add some coconut cream – talk about a perfect cocktail!

How about a nice long list of ideas?

  • Frozen mango chunks: Replace some ice with mango chunks if you want an even more intense mango mixture—great for those hot summer days.
  • Pineapple slice: Hook one on the rim for a fun tropical vibe—it also tastes great dipped in the drink!
  • Dash of hot sauce: If you like living on the edge (and love a little spice), a tiny dash can bring a surprising kick to this fruity cocktail.
  • Lime juice: A small squeeze can balance out the sweetness and add a tangy note—think of it as your secret weapon for a perfect blend.
  • A drizzle of cream of coconut: For a creamy, almost piña-colada feel that reminds you of a carnival cruise cocktail on a cruise ship.
  • Sparkling water: Top off your drink with a little fizz if you want a slightly lighter, bubbly version.
  • Mint garnish: For a refreshing smell each time you take a sip—plus it looks super fancy.
  • Brown sugar rim: Wet the rim of your glass and dip it in brown sugar or raw sugar for a sweet, crunchy edge.
  • Extra jalapeño peppers: If you’re the type who loves it hot, toss in a jalapeño slice for a sweet-and-spicy twist that’ll make your taste buds dance.
  • Whipped cream swirl: Sounds crazy, but a bit of whipped cream on top can turn it into a dessert-like treat that’s perfect for summer parties.

WHAT ARE SOME GARNISH OPTIONS?

I keep it simple with a maraschino cherry, but add other garnishes in place or along with it. My favorites are:

  • Mango slice
  • Lime wedge or lime wheel
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Lemon wedge
  • Orange slices
  • Fresh pineapple
  • Fresh mint leaves

Since this is a frozen beverage, any leftovers will melt. However, it will still be delicious!

If you have any leftovers, just pop it into the fridge for sipping on later. You can add some more ice cubes and blend it again if desired.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • This makes 2-3 drinks, but you can easily double it to serve more or halve the recipe as needed.
  • Custom options, see my tips above on that.
  • To pack more punch, add the additional rum, if you are looking for a lighter cocktail, leave it out!
  • Instead of blending with ice, you can mix the mango mixer, schnapps, and rum in a cocktail shaker and pour over ice, adding a splash of grenadine at the end.

I also had my first Kiss on the lips cocktail on a Carnival cruise. I just got off the Carnival Glory ship this morning from another cruise and had the cocktail on my mind and decided to search for a recipe so thank you so much! I will be trying this when I get home.
