If you are looking for a delicious fruity cocktail to cool down this spring and summer you need to try this Passion Fruit Margarita! Easy, tasty, and thirst-quenching.
Margaritas have always been one of my favorite drink recipes. Whenever we go out, it’s always me ordering a Margarita for some reason. I have just always loved them.
Passion Fruit if you have never tried it has amazing flavor and really complements this Margarita Recipe super well and we try to make this a few times a year because it is so so good.
Sometimes passion fruit is hard to get ahold of, but that has never stopped us from hunting it down. It really varies on where you live in the country.
Here in Florida, we can easily access it so that is why we make it more often than any other margarita out there. Even my husband loves this one!
It makes a nice big batch that you can serve to a lot of people or just to keep around for a bit to sip on because trust me, you are going to want to make this recipe!
Some of my other favorite drink recipes we have on the site include Raspberry Mojitos, Melon Prosecco Cocktails, and Blueberry Lemonade Cocktail.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With a variety of alcohol and natural sweeteners, it is not overpowering.
- You can double the batch to add more.
- You can use frozen or fresh passion fruit pulp for this recipe.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Passion fruit pulp
Tequila
Cointreau
Lime juice
Honey
Ice
Rimming salt
Lime slices, jalapeño slices, mint or basil
Aren’t those super easy ingredients, I love that we can use frozen Passion Fruit because sometimes you can’t always find fresh depending on what time of the year it is.
That is why we like to make this drink in the spring and summertime because we are almost guaranteed to have them around, and it is a great cocktail to cool down with.
HOW TO MAKE PASSION FRUIT MARGARITAS:
- In a pitcher stir together the passion fruit pulp, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and honey until everything is well incorporated.
- Fill the pitcher with ice and garnish with lime slices.
- Once you are ready to serve, rub a lime wedge over the edge of the glass and dip into the rimming salt.
- Pour or spoon the Passion Fruit Margaritas and garnish with lime slices, jalapeños, or fresh herbs.
Look at how easy this is to put together, we like to mix it in one big pitcher as it makes about 6 margaritas on its own so putting it all together in one is so much easier.
That way you can pour or spoon your desired amount into your cocktail glasses adding as much or as little fruit as you’d like in it. So you can pretty much completely customize your drink!
WHAT DO I GARNISH THIS WITH?
We like to garnish each of our margaritas with lime slices, jalapeños, or fresh herbs like mint or basil. The flavors of all of those really work with this Passion Fruit Margarita as a whole.
WHAT IS PASSION FRUIT?
According to Wikipedia Passion fruits are a round or oval fruit. They can be yellow, red, purple, and green. The fruits have a juicy edible center composed of a large number of seeds.
They kind of remind me of pomegranate in the edible seeds part but the flavor is totally different and completely amazing.
HOW TO STORE:
This is best served fresh but you can make it ahead of time. Make the recipe as directed and then place covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator.
Add ice just before serving.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- There are a variety of colors of passion fruit, you can use any one of those.
- You can swap out the honey in this recipe for agave if you like.
- Use fresh or bottled lemon juice, whatever you have on hand.
- Double this recipe to serve more people, the serves 6 margaritas.
- Making this in a larger pitcher is easier to combine everything at once rather than to make drink by drink, if you want less just cut the recipe in half.
- You can use fresh passion fruit pulp or the frozen one, you can find it at most supermarkets on the frozen aisle (Goya has one!).
