FAQ: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

Traditionally, a Fluffernutter Sandwich is just peanut butter and marshmallow fluff on white bread, that’s it! And, it’s oh so delicious!

We grew up on them as kids and it was like the best invention ever, and now the concept has blown up into multiple desserts including this one!

According to Wikipedia, Fluffernutter was invented in Rhode Island during World War I. It is also the official state sandwich of Massachusetts!

Don’t you just love those little-known facts, you learn something new every day! That’s the fun thing in life, you never know what you might learn or where.

I’ve got some ideas that I think will peak your interest!

  • Sprinkle chopped peanuts for a crunchy twist on this dessert dip.
  • Add graham crackers crumbs for a classic fluffernutter sandwich vibe.
  • Mix in mini chocolate chips for a sweet burst in the creamy peanut butter mix.
  • Top with fresh fruit slices for a fruit tray pairing with this sweet dip.
  • Stir in a dash of vanilla extract for extra tasty treat flavor.
  • Garnish with marshmallow bits to boost the marshmallow fluff fruit dip feel.
  • Include wafer cookies for a crisp texture alongside animal crackers.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce for a gooey peanut butter cookies twist.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon for a warm kick to your childhood favorite.
  • Serve with pretzels for a salty-sweet perfect addition to this cream cheese fruit dip.

Some of these might change the flavor or texture, but hey, sometimes you just gotta!

  • Use almond butter instead of peanut butter for a nutty fluffernutter cookies vibe.
  • Swap marshmallow creme with homemade marshmallow fluff for a classic fluffernutter sandwich taste.
  • Replace block of cream cheese with Greek yogurt for a lighter easy fruit dip recipe.
  • Use honey instead of powdered sugar for a natural sweet dip sweetness.
  • Substitute smooth peanut butter with chunky peanut butter for a textured dessert dip.
  • Swap cream cheese with mascarpone for a richer marshmallow fruit dip flavor.

This is extremely similar to my Cranberry Fruit Dip, so feel free to serve this peanut butter version with more fruit as well, YUM!

This would be amazing as an after-school snack too. Instead of the usual peanut butter and apples or celery, give this a shot!

REFRIGERATOR: Since this contains cream cheese it needs to be refrigerated. We place ours in an airtight container where it should keep in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.

That’s if this Fluffernutter Dip lasts that long! I doubt it will, but if you do decide to make a double batch then you will know how to store it!

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • You can use any brand of marshmallow creme or “fluff” as they are all the same just make sure you use the amount called for.
  • Switch it up with some chunky peanut butter for a different texture.
  • You can absolutely double this batch to serve larger crowds, it goes quick so we do this a lot!
  • Use whatever you like for dipping, we use cookies, crackers, fruit, etc.
  • This needs to be refrigerated after consumption.

Bringing this to a Super Bowl party tonight and already snuck a taste… INCREDIBLE!! My husband requested Reese’s pb and it took this dip over the top. I only wish I had bought enough to double the batch!

  3. I don’t like peanut butter in a dip…is their a substitute you can use instead?

  4. Candy knutson says:

I have been making this for years and many variations. I serve it with a fruit tray. You don’t have to use peanut butter, you can do vanilla, lemon, flor de cel, almond, hazelnut spread, ookie butter ( crunching is good ) the possibilities are endless. The key is in the whipping. I use my Kitchen aid, start slow and work up to high. The more you whip it and the fluffier it gets, the better it tastes.
