Personally, these days, I prefer a homemade Chex mix to the store-bought stuff. Too often, there is msg or whatever else in there. I like to have control over my ingredients!
My husband is always looking for the perfect party snacks. He’s a big fan of something simple to snack on when the game is on.
Without fail, he has asked for this easy recipe at his recent parties. Since the first time I tested it out, he decided it was a go-to. I love it when a tasty plan comes together. Ha!

- Rice Chex
- Corn Chex
- Wheat Chex
- Mini pretzels
- Butter snap pretzels
- Pecan halves
- Salted butter
- Dark brown sugar
- Granulated sugar
- Ground cinnamon
- For the topping: More dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
HOW TO MAKE SWEET CHEX MIX RECIPE:
- Preheat the oven to 275°F. Line a large sheet tray with parchment paper, and set it aside.
- In a large bowl, add the rice Chex, corn Chex, wheat Chex, mini pretzels, butter snap pretzels, and pecans, and set aside.
- In a small sauce pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar, sugar, and cinnamon, and whisk to combine. Continue to cook until the sugars are dissolved, about 4-5 minutes.
- Pour the sugar mixture over the Chex mix ingredients in the bowl. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
- Place the coated Chex mix onto the prepared sheet tray. Bake for 45 minutes, tossing the mixture around every 15 minutes.
- Allow the Chex mix to cool on the tray for 15 minutes. While the mixture is cooling, make the topping by stirring together the brown sugar, sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl, set aside.
- Add the slightly cooled Chex mix back to the large bowl. Add the topping mixture and toss to combine.
- It is ready to eat warm, or let it cool completely and store for later use.
