FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:
DO I HAVE TO USE WHIPPED TOPPING?
No, you can make your own whipped cream in place of whipped topping.
To do so, add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to a large bowl or into the bowl of a stand mixer with 1/4 cup powdered sugar.
Whip until stiff peaks form, then continue with this delicious dip recipe as written.
WHAT ITEMS ARE GOOD FOR DIPPING?
There are endless possibilities! So many things go well with this sweet dip, here are some of my favorites:
- Vanilla wafers
- For a salty twist, use your favorite crackers, ritz are amazing with this!
- Favorite fruits: Seedless red grapes, fresh pear, green apple, strawberries, fresh pineapple
- Slices of pound cake
- Graham crackers

CAN I ADD ANYTHING?
Yes! You can add nuts, pecans and pistachios go well with the flavors.
Sweetened coconut or toasted coconut goes well.
Mini Marshmallows are a fun twist.
Crushed pretzels make this sweet and salty, yum!
CAN THIS BE MADE AHEAD?
It actually has to be made in advance. Once everything is mixed together, it needs to be covered and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours to thicken up and so the flavors can combine.
This makes it an excellent make-ahead dessert or sweet dip appetizer.
ARE THERE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS?
There are a couple of things you can switch out; here are some suggestions:
- Make this any fruit flavor you wish, just replace the pineapple with 20 ounces of any canned fruit you like. Make sure to chop it up first.
- Use other pudding flavors such as cheesecake, white chocolate, banana, or coconut. Just make sure to get an instant pudding mix.
- You can use light whipped topping and cream cheese for a lighter version.
HOW TO STORE:
Store leftover dip in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Best served and eaten cold.
Cream cheese fruit dip can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Place leftovers in the freezer in a freezer-safe container. To thaw, place the dish in the fridge overnight.
DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:
- This makes a large batch, but you can easily double it to feed more or halve the recipe as needed.
- Tons of custom options, see my tips above on that.
