Whether you’re trying to eat more veggies or just want to jazz up a grain bowl, this is the garlic salad dressing you’ll want to keep around.

HERE IS WHAT OUR READERS ARE SAYING:

“I’ve made this dressing several times since I found it. It’s terrific, I didn’t change a thing. I like to add parmesan cheese to any salad I use it on, the combination is great. My 6 year old grandson wouldn’t eat salad before I found this dressing, now he asks for salad!” – Pat

It uses simple ingredients, like fresh garlic, red wine vinegar, and a little black pepper, to make something way better than those store-bought salad dressings you find on the shelves.

Let’s be real—homemade dressings just taste better. They have a bold flavor you can’t always get from a bottle. Plus, when you make your own salad dressings, you know exactly what’s going into them.

That’s great if you’re trying to avoid weird additives or if you’re following a calorie diet. You also get to adjust the taste to make it perfect for your personal consumption. Like it more tangy? Add more vinegar! Want it creamier? Stir in a bit of sour cream!

This creamy garlic dressing is a total game changer for green salads, pasta salads, or even as a dip for cut-up veggies.

It also makes a perfect marinade for grilled chicken. And don’t worry—it takes just five minutes and one medium-sized bowl to mix it up. That’s it!

If you’ve got a mason jar, it’s even easier to shake everything up. Just pour, shake, and chill. Trust me, once you make your first garlic salad dressing, you’ll never look back.

HOW TO MAKE GARLIC SALAD DRESSING:

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together all the ingredients. Pour into an air-tight container and let sit in the fridge for at least one hour before serving.

FAQ: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

This homemade salad dressing will stay fresh in the fridge for up to one week.

Since it’s so easy to make, that’s no big deal.

After a week, you can make another batch!

Just be sure to store it in an airtight container or a sealed mason jar, and always stir or shake it before using.

Yes! Because it contains mayonnaise and raw garlic, you’ll want to keep it cold.

Leaving it at room temperature for too long can make it spoil. Always refrigerate it between uses.

The flavors in this dressing can easily pair with others as well. Here you go!

  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for richness
  • A teaspoon of maple syrup or honey for a sweet twist
  • A pinch of garlic powder for even more garlic flavor
  • Some grated Parmesan cheese
  • A spoonful of sour cream to make it thicker
  • Chopped fresh herbs like parsley or dill
  • A dash of balsamic vinegar for sweetness
  • Crushed red pepper flakes for heat
  • A little Dijon mustard for tangy spice

You better believe it. If you have any other ideas, feel free!

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise for a lighter option
  • Try apple cider vinegar in place of red wine vinegar
  • Swap Dijon mustard for the whole grain kind
  • Use garlic powder if you don’t have fresh garlic
  • Use white wine vinegar or sherry vinegar for a different tang
  • Replace Worcestershire with soy sauce if needed

ROOM TEMPERATURE: Do not store this dressing at room temperature. It must be kept cold to stay safe and fresh.

REFRIGERATOR: Pour your dressing into a sealed container, mason jar, or airtight container and store in the fridge. It will last about 5–7 days. Shake it before using.

FREEZER: Freezing is not a good idea for this dressing. Because it has mayonnaise, it may separate or turn grainy when thawed.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Use a mini food processor to blend if you want the smoothest texture.
  • Let the dressing chill for at least 1 hour before using—it helps all the flavors blend.
  • Use golden brown roasted garlic instead of raw garlic for a milder taste.
  • Keep a big batch in the fridge for easy meals all week.
  • Add more or less vinegar depending on your taste. The mix is about part vinegar, parts oil, and other goodies.
  • Try this as a dip with fresh veggies or even roasted potatoes—so good!

Garlic Salad Dressing is one of those little recipes that packs a big punch.

Whether you’re tossing it into a salad, drizzling it over grilled veggies, or using it as a dip, it always adds that special something.

With just a few simple ingredients, you’ll get a homemade dressing that’s better than anything in a bottle.

It’s quick, tasty, and super satisfying—your new secret weapon in the kitchen.

Once you try it, you might even go back for a second helping!

I made a spicy shrimp, southwestern-inspired salad with this dressing on it, and it was a massive hit! The rest of my family aren’t huge salad people, but this mixed so spectacularly with everything else! I just added some more cloves to mine, and it was delicious!

  2. Loved the unique blend of ingredients. Really liked it. I only added 1 extra clove of garlic.

Made your creamy garlic dressing yesterday and it turned out quite delicious!

My garlic cloves were small, so I used two… and after tasting it on my salad last night, I felt it could benefit from even more garlic, so if you’re a garlic lover like me, if recommend additional garlic.
