If you love hand held treats you’ll adore these Peanut Butter Oreo Buckeyes! Peanut butter Oreo truffles dipped in a peanut butter coating and milk chocolate!
Buckeyes are a delicious treat the whole family can enjoy! We absolutely do, they are one of my favorite treats to make at any given time.
Chocolate and peanut are two flavors that go so well together in my opinion and that is exactly what makes these Buckeyes so irresistible to anyone that I meet.
My Buckeyes are a little different than the originals, but of course they are, that’s who I am and I absolutely love taking a twist on traditional recipes.
These contain peanut butter Oreos, white and milk chocolate chips and peanut butter. Trust me, when you make these bad boys you will fall in love.
They are a really easy recipe to put together as well so that again is another thing that I love about them. Easy recipes makes for a happy baker, or no bake in this occasion.
Some of my favorite chocolate and peanut butter recipes we have on our site include Peanut Butter Lasagna, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cookies and Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- The ingredients are super easy to find at your local grocer.
- You can double the recipe to make more.
- They store really well so you can always have some on hand for later.
If you are a chocolate-peanut butter freak like I am, then you will seriously appreciate these beauties! I mean who doesn’t love an Easy Buckeye Recipe!
So let me tell you a little bit about these beauties. Peanut Butter Oreo truffles!! But, did I just stop there? Oh no.
To make these more into buckeyes I dipped them in a peanut butter + white chocolate coating and then dipped everything in melted milk chocolate… GIMME!
WHAT IS A BUCKEYE?
A buckeye is actually a nut from a tree! It is a shiny dark brown nut with a light patch on top! Pretty cool right?!
However, they are now commonly a delicious truffle dessert that only resembles the nut in name and appearance but does not actually use the nut in the recipe.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Peanut butter Oreos
Cream cheese
White chocolate chips
Peanut butter
Milk chocolate chips
HOW TO MAKE PEANUT BUTTER OREO BUCKEYES:
-
Place Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they form crumbs.
-
Add in the cream cheese and pulse until a dough like ball forms.
-
Roll mixture into 1 tablespoon-sized balls, I use a cookie scoop for this. Place on a parchment paper lined sheet tray. Place in freezer for 4 hours, up to overnight.
-
Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on half power in 30-second intervals until melted, stirring with a spoon in between intervals.
-
Add in the peanut butter and stir in until everything is smooth. Dip truffles one at a time into the mixture, tapping off the excess and place back on the parchment paper lined sheet. If the peanut butter coating does not harden within a few minutes then pop them back in the freezer for 5 minutes.
-
Melt the chocolate chips by placing them into a microwaveable bowl. Microwave on half power in 30 seconds intervals until melted, stirring in between.
-
Dip the bottom of the truffles into the melted milk chocolate. Place back on the sheet tray to harden.

HOW TO STORE:
Since these use cream cheese they should be refrigerated. They can be placed in an airtight container or a ziptop bag and they should keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
These can also be frozen to do that again place in an airtight container or freezer bag and they should keep in freezer for up to 3 months. Just pull them out and eat them cold!
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use any kind of chocolate chips that you like we like milk, but you can use semi-sweet or even dark chocolate.
- The filling needs time to set up so let it chill for at least 4 hours if not overnight, this is an important step so when you dunk them they will not melt and fall apart.
- To dip I like to use a fork or slotted spoon to lower the truffle into the peanut butter mixture and roll it around. You can also use a tooth pick inserted into the top!
- If you cant find peanut butter Oreos you can use regular Oreos you just won’t have as much peanut butter flavor.
