Brownie Truffles are like little bites of happiness that are perfect for special occasions or just because you deserve a sweet treat.

I made these chocolate truffles for the first time just a couple years ago. They made for a show stopping treat at our family Christmas party.

Now, these truffles are a must-have at our gatherings, and I’m excited to share them with you. I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit over the years till they became the great treat that they are.

They’re easy to make with simple ingredients, and the best part is dipping them in melted chocolate. Ohhhh I love that part, haha!

It’s a fun activity, and you might even get a little messy, but that’s part of the joy of baking! Lily absolutely LOVES it. That’s excuse enough for me to make them.

I think they’re perfect for the holidays too. I’m always looking for delicious treats that I can bring to the family.

So let’s jump further into these Brownie Truffles! You’re gonna love them.

HOW TO MAKE BROWNIE TRUFFLES:

  1. Mix and bake the brownies per the back of the box in a 9×13 baking dish. Let cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl with an electric hand mixer, mix the cream cheese and cherry juice.
  3. Crumble up the brownies and place them into the bowl. Using the hand mixer, mix until smooth.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Take 1.5 tablespoons of the brownie mixture, place it into your hand and make an indention in the center. Place a cherry into the indention and form the brownie mix around the cherry.
  6. Roll into a little smooth brownie ball.
  7. Place them on the prepared sheet tray and freeze for 30 minutes.
  8. Melt the candy coating in a medium-sized bowl per the directions on the back of the packaging.
  9. Taking just a couple of the bombs out of the freezer at a time, dip them into the chocolate using the stem to help until coated, letting any extra drip off. Scrape the bottom on the side of the bowl, so there is not a lot of excess coating.
  10. Place it onto another parchment-lined sheet tray.
  11. Repeat with the remaining bombs, and let them sit out until the chocolate coating hardens, about 10-15 minutes.
  12. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy.

You never know what kind of happy accident you’re gonna come up with.

That truffle filling is a great one to experiment with!

  • Chopped Nuts: Mix in some chopped walnuts or pecans into the brownie mixture for a crunchy texture.
  • Coconut Flakes: Roll the coated truffles in coconut flakes before the chocolate sets.
  • Sprinkles: Add colorful sprinkles on top of the truffles for a festive touch.
  • White Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle melted white chocolate over the top for a decorative look.
  • Crushed Candy Canes: Perfect for the holidays, sprinkle crushed candy canes over the truffles.
  • Sea Salt: Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • Caramel Filling: Place a soft caramel candy in the center instead of a cherry.
  • Cookie Crumbs: Roll the truffles in crushed Oreo cookies for an extra chocolatey taste.
  • Cocoa Powder Dusting: Lightly dust the truffles with cocoa powder after the chocolate sets.
  • Edible Gold Dust: For special occasions, add a touch of edible gold dust on top.

Try it one way and next time try it a different way. That’s part of the fun of baking.

That, and spending time with family!

  • Dark Chocolate: Use dark chocolate candy coating instead of milk chocolate for a richer taste.
  • White Chocolate: Swap the chocolate coating for white chocolate candy melts.
  • Dairy-Free Cream Cheese: Use a dairy-free cream cheese alternative if needed.
  • Gluten-Free Brownie Mix: Use a gluten-free boxed brownie mix to accommodate dietary needs.
  • Almond Extract: Substitute cherry juice with milk and vanilla extract for a different flavor.
  • Fresh Cherries: Use fresh pitted cherries when they are in season.

Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Since they contain cream cheese, keeping them cold ensures they stay fresh and safe to eat.

Freezer: You can freeze your delicious brownie truffles for up to three months.

Place them in a freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.

Thaw them in the refrigerator before enjoying.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Cool Brownies Completely: Make sure the brownies are at room temperature before mixing them with cream cheese to get the right consistency.
  • Use a Small Cookie Scoop: This helps make evenly sized brownie balls and speeds up the process.
  • Work in Batches: Keep most of the brownie balls in the freezer while dipping a few at a time to prevent them from getting too soft.
  • Melt Chocolate Carefully: Use a microwave-safe bowl and melt the chocolate coating in 30-second increments, stirring each time to avoid burning.
  • Remove Excess Chocolate: Gently scrape the edge of the bowl when lifting the truffle to remove extra chocolate and prevent pooling.
  • Decorate Quickly: If adding toppings like sprinkles or nuts, do so before the chocolate sets.
