If you don’t like bleu cheese, don’t worry – use ranch instead and the cheese of your choice!
How to prepare chicken lettuce wraps
- Chop chicken tenders into bite-sized pieces. Toss with buffalo sauce.
- Slice celery and red cabbage very thinly.
- Place buffalo chicken into butter lettuce leaf cups.
- Top with the celery, cabbage, bleu cheese dressing, and more bleu cheese crumbles if desired.
You can not mess this recipe up!
I even bought the chicken tenders at the deli while I was shopping for the other ingredients.
I place the tenders in the fridge to get them nice and cold beforehand. This is just my preference, if you want your chicken warm, use them right away.
This is a super fast, super flavorful dish!
Best lettuce for wraps
For this recipe, I used butter leaf lettuce. I love how butter lettuce naturally has huge cups that are easy to just snap off, clean, and eat.
However, you do want to make sure the lettuce is sturdy enough to hold your filling. Butter lettuce is a tender leaf, but the cups are easy to wrap making them ideal.
More lettuce varieties you can use for lettuce wraps include iceberg lettuce and romaine lettuce.
Iceberg lettuce is a classic to use for any kind of chicken or beef lettuce wraps. It is a hearty lettuce that is crisp and will hold up to lots of filling, while still being tender.
Romaine lettuce is good as well, except the leaves do not make for the best cups. They are an awkward shape for lettuce wraps but the lettuce itself stands up to fillings and has a great crisp texture.
These are some of the best chicken lettuce wraps I have ever tasted!
Normally, lettuce wraps tend to lean toward the Asian side. Asian chicken lettuce wraps or even Asian beef lettuce wraps are a classic nowadays.
I love to mix up flavors and cuisines and this buffalo twist on the Asian lettuce wrap is a fun surprise!
