I remember the first time I tried this decadent drink, and boy, was it yummy! If you’ve only ever had traditional hot chocolate, you are in for a serious treat with this White Hot Chocolate.

This isn’t just your regular hot chocolate but a creamy, dreamy, and oh-so-beautiful version with – yes indeed – white chocolate!

Perfect for snow days and cooler weather, it’s a favorite thing of mine to whip up during the holiday season. A warm mug in chilly weather is seriously hard to beat.

For this easy white hot chocolate recipe, we’re going to use the slow cooker. This is one of my favorite ways to make hot drinks. That slow heat over time does something really special to this cocoa.

I don’t know how this hot chocolate could get any better between the white chocolate, vanilla, and heavy cream.

The warmth and flavor here are absolutely amazing. I can tell you right now you’ll have to make a bigger batch. This stuff disappears faster than you would believe!

So, let’s dive into this white hot chocolate. It’s going to become your next favorite holiday drink. I guarantee it!

Some of our other favorite hot chocolate recipes we have on our site include: Hot Chocolate Dip, Copycat White Chocolate Mocha (Frappuccino Version), and Hot Chocolate Mug Cake.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

  1. Slow Cooker Magic: Using a slow cooker means you can prepare this treat in advance and keep it warm for hours. When it’s time to serve, it will be at just the right drinking temp. Perfect for those holiday parties!
  2. Real White Chocolate: Using a white chocolate baking bar ensures a genuine, rich flavor. No store brand can compete when you’ve made this stuff at home!
  3. No Fuss: This recipe is straightforward, making it easy for anyone (even if you’re making it for the first time!) You, more or less, just toss everything into the slow cooker. I love my crock pot!

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR THE FULL RECIPE CARD):

  • Heavy cream

  • Sweetened condensed milk

ingredients needed to make white hot chocolate

HOW TO MAKE WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE:

  1. Add half of the heavy cream to the slow cooker. Whisk in the white chocolate powder until combined.
  2. Add the remaining cream, milk, sweetened condensed milk, chopped chocolate, and vanilla, stir to combine.
  3. Place on low for 2- 3 hours, stirring every 20 minutes or so until the chocolate is melted and fully combined. Keep on the warm setting for up to 3 hours for serving. If the hot chocolate gets too thick while it sits, you can stir in more milk to your desired thickness.
  4. Serve with your desired toppings such as marshmallows, whipped cream, or crushed candy canes!

Absolutely! Just use a medium saucepan and heat the ingredients over medium heat. Stir regularly until the chocolate melts and the mixture is warm.

Yes! I love making this the day before to save time on the big day. Prepare the hot chocolate, let it cool to room temperature, and store it in the refrigerator.

Just warm it up on the stove or in the slow cooker when you’re ready to serve.

Refrigerator: Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove or in the slow cooker.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Always use good quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Remember to stir every 20 minutes or so in the slow cooker to ensure even melting and prevent any burning.
  • If your hot chocolate becomes too thick, a splash of warm milk can bring it back to your desired consistency.
  • For a Starbucks white hot chocolate vibe, add a drizzle of white chocolate mocha sauce on top!
  • Use fun mugs or glasses for serving to make the experience even more special. Think of it as your homemade hot chocolate bar!
  • Keep on the warm setting for up to 3 hours.
