Hi friends! ‘Tis the season for hot chocolate and booze! Who am I kidding, booze is always in season, but for us especially around the holidays!
Anyways, there is no better way to get extra jolly this season than this delicious Boozy White Hot Chocolate!
It has Kahlua, vanilla, milk, white chocolate and that’s it! Easy peasy, feel free to top it off with your favorite hot cocoa toppings like marshmallows and whipped cream!
This is a staple at our adult holiday parties and is one of my personal favorite alcoholic drinks. I’m a huge sucker for hot chocolate and this spiked version is amazing.
Plus I love that it is literally effortless and can be made in mere minutes! Easy, tasty, and fun all rolled into one. You really can’t get much better than that.
Some of our other favorite drink recipes we have on our site include: Classic Eggnog, Red Wine Spritzer and White Winter Wine Sangria.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal ingredients, this comes together quickly.
- You can switch up your alcohol as you’d like.
- Double this recipe and keep it warm in a slow cooker for parties.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM):
Whole milk
White chocolate chips
Coffee liqueur
Vanilla extract
HOW TO MAKE BOOZY WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE:
- Place the milk and chocolate chips in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate chips are melted and it comes to a simmer, immediately take off the heat.
- Add the coffee liqueur and vanilla, stir to combine.
- Pour into glasses and top with your favorite hot chocolate toppings.
DO I HAVE TO USE KAHLUA?
We like the coffee flavor that is added to the white hot chocolate in this recipe but it is not necessary to use Kahlua.
Some other options for alcoholic mix-ins include vanilla vodka, Rumchata, rum, bourbon, amaretto, or Baileys. Whatever your favorite liquor that works with white chocolate will be amazing.
CAN I MAKE THIS IN A CROCK POT?
Yes! There shouldn’t be any reason that you couldn’t make this is the crock pot. Simply add everything into a crock pot besides the Kahlua and stir together.
Heat on low for 3 hours or high for 1 1/2 hours whisking every so often to distribute the chocolate chips and make sure they are melting.
Add Kahlua to each glass then pour hot chocolate over the top, we do not want the alcohol to cook out of this recipe while in the crock pot.
This works best if you are making a larger batch.
CAN I MAKE THIS NON-ALCOHOLIC?
Absolutely, just leave out any of the alcohol, the measurements for everything else can stay the same.
HOW TO STORE:
This is great to store in a lidded container or mason jars if you have leftovers then place them in the refrigerator.
This should last for up to 4-5 days. To reheat add to a pot on the stove and stir to heat and redistribute the chocolate.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Use high-quality chocolate chips for this.
- This can be made in the crock pot, see my tips above.
- Top with your favorite toppings like whipped cream and marshmallows.
- We love Kahlua in this recipe but you can switch up your alcohols, see some options above.
