This has been a recipe that I’ve been making for years, one recipe pretty much since I’ve been a teen and learned how to “bake”. This is not technically baking, but that’s neither here nor there.
All I know is that it is absolutely delicious and I am not being biased here this time! If you are an apple lover but have never tried these before, then this is one recipe that I highly encourage you to make!

WHAT KIND OF APPLES SHOULD I USE?
The best types of apples to bake with are apples with a firmer flesh. A classic baking apple is the Granny Smith like I used here.
Other great baking apples include Honeycrisp, Gala, and Golden Delicious. It is really up to you, but a more tart apple used when baking is great to balance out the sweetness of the recipe.
DO I HAVE TO PEEL MY APPLES?
No, you do not! The skin really becomes nice and tender and will slide right off if you don’t decide to eat it. You can peel the apples if you’d like, but it is not necessary.
When you leave and consume the peel of the apples there is actually a lot of nutrients in the peel so we always love leaving it on and eating it along with the inside of the apple.
HOW TO STORE:
This Baked Apple Recipe can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can reheat in the microwave until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- This makes a small batch, it can easily be doubled.
- Top with your favorite toppings, see my suggestions above.
- Use a nice tart apple like Granny Smith like we do, some other apple choices I have stated above.
- If you want a richer flavor you can swap out the light brown sugar for dark brown.
