FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

WHAT KIND OF STEAK IS BEST TO USE?

Sirloin steak works great for this recipe because it’s tender and flavorful.

However, you can also use round steak, stew meat, or chuck roast.

Some of the tougher cuts of meat are made more tender by the slow cooking process.

DO I HAVE TO SEAR THE STEAK?

Searing the steak is optional, but it adds a rich flavor to the steak bites. I highly recommend using the sear method with all kinds of beef.

If you’re short on time, though, you can skip this step and put the seasoned steak bites directly into the slow cooker.

CAN I ADD OTHER VEGGIES?

Absolutely! Green beans, carrots, or bell peppers would be great additions.

Just add them to the slow cooker during the last hour of cooking. I’ve got a few more ideas down below.

They make a complete meal that the entire family will enjoy.

You could also consider some fresh bread or biscuits to soak in that awesome gravy!

HOW TO STORE:

Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Cut the steak into even bite-sized pieces for consistent cooking.
  • If using a skillet for searing, make sure it’s very hot to get a good sear on the steak.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan while searing – cook in batches if necessary.
  • Stir the steak bites occasionally while cooking in the slow cooker for even flavor distribution.
  • If you like a thicker sauce, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and add it to the cooker in the last 30 minutes.
