Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls are the easy, crowd pleasing appetizer that disappears first at every party, a creamy, cheesy jalapeno popper filling loaded with crispy bacon and rolled up in flaky crescent dough. I made a tray for game day and the second they came out of the oven Maddie and Lizzie were dunking them in ranch faster than I could plate them. If you love a warm, cheesy starter like our hot spinach artichoke dip, these little rolls are your next must make.

Whip together cream cheese, sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, diced jalapeno, and sliced scallion. Unroll crescent dough, separate it into triangles, and cut each in half. Why This Recipe Works

Click to see the technique science
  • Store bought crescent dough keeps it easy. No dough to make from scratch means these come together in minutes with a perfectly flaky result.
  • A popper filling in every bite. Cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and jalapeno give you classic jalapeno popper flavor in a handheld roll.
  • Whipping the filling makes it smooth. Beating the filling with a hand mixer blends everything evenly so each roll tastes the same.
  • Removing the seeds controls the heat. Seeding the jalapeno keeps these mild and family friendly, but you can leave them in for more kick.
  • They bake up golden and flaky. A hot oven crisps the crescent dough into a buttery, golden shell around the creamy filling.
  • They are great warm or at room temp. These hold up well on a party table, staying delicious whether hot from the oven or cooled.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • They are perfect for parties, a make ahead friendly appetizer that feeds a crowd.
  • They taste like jalapeno poppers in an easy handheld form, a lot like our ham and Swiss sliders for game day.
  • They come together fast, with simple ingredients and store bought dough.

Key Ingredients

Here is what gives these jalapeno popper crescent rolls their creamy, cheesy, savory flavor. Just a few simple ingredients do the work.

  • Cream cheese: The creamy base of the popper filling. Soften it so it whips up smooth with the other ingredients.
  • Sharp cheddar cheese: Adds bold, cheesy flavor that melts right into the filling.
  • Bacon: Cooked crispy and crumbled for smoky, salty crunch in every bite.
  • Jalapeno: Diced small for that signature popper flavor and a little heat. Remove the seeds to keep it mild.
  • Crescent roll dough: The flaky, buttery wrapper that makes these so easy, much like the dough in our mummy dogs.

Variations and Substitutions

These crescent rolls are easy to make your own. Here are a few ideas our readers love.

  • Leave the jalapeno seeds in for extra heat.
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika to the filling.
  • Swap the cheddar for pepper jack for even more spice.
  • Use turkey bacon or skip the bacon for a vegetarian version.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whip the bacon, cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeno, and scallion together with a hand mixer until combined.
  3. Unroll one can of crescent dough, separate it into triangles, and cut each triangle in half to make two long triangles.
  4. Place about 1 and a half teaspoons of filling on the wide end of each triangle.
  5. Roll the dough over the filling into a crescent shape and place it on the baking sheet.
  6. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling, spacing the rolls apart so they do not touch.
  7. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes until lightly golden, then cool a few minutes and serve with ranch.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

  • Soften the cream cheese fully so the filling whips up smooth and easy to spread.
  • Cook the bacon extra crispy so it stays crunchy inside the rolls.
  • Do not overfill or the filling will leak out as they bake.
  • Space the rolls apart so they bake up golden on all sides.
  • Remove the jalapeno seeds for a milder, family friendly version.
  • Serve them warm with ranch, the same way we love our hot spinach artichoke dip.

Serving Ideas and Suggestions

These jalapeno popper crescent rolls are best served warm, right when the cheese is still gooey and the dough is flaky. Set them out with a bowl of cool ranch or a creamy dip for the ultimate game day, holiday, or party appetizer.

Build a full appetizer spread by pairing them with our hot spinach artichoke dip, a tray of ham and Swiss sliders, and some homemade meatballs for the meat lovers.

For game day, serve them alongside our key lime chicken wings and a batch of air fried baked potatoes so there is something for everyone.

These are easy to prep ahead, too. Mix the filling a day in advance and keep it chilled, then roll and bake the crescent rolls fresh just before your guests arrive for the best flaky texture.
