WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal and easy-to-find ingredients, this comes together in no time. Keep it in your recipe box under easy dessert recipes!

- This simple recipe is great for breakfast or dessert and warm or cold.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST FOR THE FULL RECIPE CARD):
- Honey buns
- Eggs
- Granulated sugar
- Unsalted butter
- Ground cinnamon
- Vanilla extract
- Whole milk
- Powdered sugar, optional

HOW TO MAKE BREAD PUDDING RECIPE:
- Spray a 9×13 with nonstick cooking spray. Place the diced honeybuns into the prepared baking dish and set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, sugar, butter, cinnamon, and vanilla until combined. Add the milk and gently whisk it in. Pour this mixture over the honeybuns and press down with a spoon so the honeybuns are submerged. Let this sit for 30 minutes to give the honeybuns time to soak up the creamy custard.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is browned and puffed. You know it’s ready when a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool at least 30 minutes before serving, serve warm, room temperature, or cold!
- To serve with optional glaze, in a small bowl whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Pour this over the bread pudding in the pan or over slices.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:
WHAT KIND OF HONEY BUNS DO I USE?
We use the plain glazed honey buns for this recipe.
You can use the iced honey buns, this will give a more sweet flavor and you most likely won’t need the glaze.
You can choose to use whatever type you want to use, but traditionally for this recipe we just use the plain glazed ones.
WHAT CAN I TOP THIS WITH?
This classic dessert can be topped with the optional glaze that we have pictured here, but if you want to cut back on the sweetness you can go with a dollop of whipped cream.
This easy bread pudding recipe is also great with a large scoop of ice cream on it as well. Really it’s just great plain on its own as well.
So, choose your own sweetness level!

WHAT IS THE TEXTURE OF THIS?
If it’s your first time making this, it has a more rich custard-like texture, and the outside gets nice and caramelized from the honey buns themselves, and the inside is nice, soft, and moist.
It is a really great texture that we all love around here!
ANY ADDITIONS?
I’ve got a few simple ingredients here that you can add.
This warm bread pudding doesn’t have to be for special occasions!
- Chocolate chips for a gooey chocolate surprise.
- Dried fruit like raisins, cranberries, or apricots for added texture.
- A drizzle of caramel sauce for extra sweetness.
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for a warm and cold combo.
- Chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts for a crunch.
- A splash of bourbon or whiskey for a boozy twist.
- Fresh fruit like sliced bananas or strawberries for brightness.
- A sprinkle of powdered sugar for a simple but elegant finish.
- Cinnamon or nutmeg to elevate the warm spices.
- One last great idea. A dollop of whipped heavy whipping cream for a light and fluffy topping!
ANY SUBSTITUTIONS?
This can be a great way to make this simple dessert all your own.
There is so much flavor here!
- Honey buns – Use cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, or even glazed donuts. Try white bread or french bread for a more classic recipe.
- Whole milk – Swap for heavy cream or half and half for a richer custard, or use almond milk for a dairy-free version.
- Granulated sugar – Brown sugar or coconut sugar can add a deeper flavor.
- Butter – Substitute with margarine or coconut oil for a dairy-free alternative.
- Vanilla extract – Use almond extract or maple syrup for a different flavor.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in the refrigerator covered where it will keep for up to 5 days.
This can also be frozen, to do this place your pan covered with a layer of plastic wrap and foil and then it will keep frozen for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator overnight, you can reheat in the microwave.
DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:
- The glaze is optional it depends on your sweetness level.

It’s supposed to be 12 cups, thank you!!
Is the 2C honeybun a typo. It doesn’t seem like enough.
