If you love chocolate, pecans, and toffee, then you are in for a literal treat with these Chocolate Pecan Toffee Bars. Super easy, tasty, and absolutely wonderful.

These have been one of my favorite bars for the longest time. We usually make them around the holidays but love to make them all year long because the flavors are just too good for one season.

This has a chewy toffee-tasting bar bottom that is then spread with chocolate and topped with chopped-up pecans. I mean, can you get any easier than that?

With the chewy texture and the nice crunch, it gives these Chocolate Pecan Toffee Bars a really nice contrast not only with the texture but the flavor as well.

Have you been looking for that perfect new treat to add to your holiday spread or just to make because you love the flavors? Then these bars are it.

Some of my other favorite bar recipes we have on our site include: Lunch Lady Peanut Butter Bars, Cherry Cheesecake Bars and Fudgy Brownies.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

  • Minimal ingredients and time make these super easy to throw together.
  • The flavors really work so well together.
  • You can easily halve this recipe to make a smaller batch for a smaller crowd/family.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):

Light brown sugar
Egg yolk
Vanilla extract
All-purpose flour
Fine sea salt
Hershey’s chocolate bars
Chopped pecans

Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Toffee Pecan Bars.

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE PECAN TOFFEE BARS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray, and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl with an electric hand mixer or in the body of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix the butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add the flour and salt, mix it in until combined with no dry patches, and scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  5. Immediately break up the chocolate bars and place the pieces all over the hot dough. Wait 5 minutes and smooth the melted chocolate all over.
  6. Immediately top with the chopped pecans. Allow the bars to cool in the pan. Slice into bars when still slightly warm. Allow them to cool completely before serving.

CAN I ADD A DIFFERENT TOPPING?

Yes, if you are not a fan of pecans, you can add chopped walnuts, almonds, peanuts, and pistachios.

If you want to top them with something other than nuts, some options include: M&M’s, chopped-up candy bars, toffee bits, or peanut butter chips.

WHAT OTHER CHOCOLATE CAN I USE?

Use whatever chocolate you like the most. We have always used Hershey’s chocolate bars. But, you can also use chocolate chips. White, semisweet, dark, or milk chocolate would all be good.

CAN I HALVE THIS RECIPE?

Absolutely, if you are just baking for yourself or a smaller crowd and don’t want a larger batch, you can certainly make these less.

You can make these in a 9×9-inch baking dish, or for a slightly thicker bar an 8×8-inch baking dish, the baking times will vary so keep an eye on the bars while baking.

HOW TO STORE:

This Chocolate Pecan Toffee Bar Recipe can be stored in an airtight container on the counter, where they will keep for up to 1 week.

They can also be frozen, place bars in a freezer container and they will keep for up to 3 months.

To defrost, remove from the freezer to the countertop until thawed.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • The toffee flavor comes from the bars themselves having the brown sugar crust caramelize just like toffee.
  • These are nice and soft, with a great crunchy texture from the chopped pecans.
  • Other toppings can be added to this, see my suggestions above.
  • You can use other chocolate as well, again see above on other options.
  • Make sure these bars are cooled enough before you cut them.
  • These can be frozen, see above on how to freeze.
