Cheeseburger Sliders are the juicy little burgers that vanish off the plate before I can grab seconds, and I made a double batch last weekend when Maddie had friends over and every single one was gone in about ten minutes flat. They taste like a backyard cookout but cook on the stovetop in one pan, and if you love handheld party food you have to try our French Dip Sliders next.

The secret is a quick homemade burger seasoning mixed right into the beef, so every bite is packed with flavor from the inside out.

Quick Answer
Mix one pound of ground beef with ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then divide into six portions and press into thin patties. Cook them in a hot cast iron skillet for two to three minutes per side, top each with a half slice of American cheese, cover the pan off the heat to melt, and serve on slider buns.

Why This Recipe Works
Click to see the technique science
- Homemade seasoning beats a packet. Mixing ketchup, Worcestershire, and brown sugar right into the beef seasons every bite instead of just the surface.
- Thin patties cook fast and even. Pressing the beef thin gives you that crispy diner style crust in just a couple of minutes per side.
- Resting the meat matters. Letting the shaped patties sit at room temperature helps them cook evenly and faster.
- Cast iron builds a crust. A hot, heavy skillet sears the outside so you get real flavor and texture, not steamed gray meat.
- The lid melts the cheese perfectly. Covering the pan off the heat melts the American cheese into a gooey blanket without overcooking the beef.
- An 80/20 blend keeps them juicy. The fat content gives you a tender, moist slider every single time.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- They are ready in 20 minutes. Faster than waiting on takeout and perfect for busy weeknights or last minute guests.
- Everyone builds their own. Set out the toppings and let the family customize, the same crowd pleasing trick that makes our hobo hamburger foil packets a hit.
- They freeze beautifully for meal prep. Shape the patties ahead and pull them straight from the freezer when you need a fast dinner.
Key Ingredients

- Ground Beef: Use an 80/20 blend for juicy sliders; the fat keeps them tender and full of flavor.
- Ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce: This combo brings tang and deep savory umami right into the meat.
- Brown Sugar: A touch balances the savory notes and helps the patties caramelize in the skillet.
- Garlic and Onion Powder: The backbone of the homemade burger seasoning, just like the blend we use on our easy meatloaf.
- American Cheese: Melts into that classic gooey cheeseburger blanket over every patty.

Variations and Substitutions
- Swap the cheese. Cheddar, pepper jack, or Swiss all melt beautifully if you want a different flavor.
- Add bacon. A little crumbled bacon mixed into the beef or layered on top takes these over the top.
- Go spicy. Mix in a pinch of cayenne or top with sliced jalapenos for a kick.
- Use your own seasoning. Already have a favorite burger blend? Use it in place of the homemade mix.
- Make them mini meal portions. Serve them alongside our copycat Arby’s beef and cheddar for a fun sandwich night spread.
How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders

- In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together except for the cheese by hand until just combined. Do not over mix.

- Using an ice cream scoop, divide the seasoned beef into 6 equal portions.

- Roll each portion into a ball by hand and place on a sheet of plastic wrap until all are rolled.

- Place another sheet of plastic wrap on top and, using a heavy bottom glass, press down in the center to form a patty. Repeat for each slider.
- Let the patties sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes so they cook evenly and faster.

- Heat a cast iron or heavy bottom skillet over medium heat. Once hot, cook the sliders about 2 to 3 minutes per side until a crust forms or they reach your desired doneness, flipping only once.

- Top each burger with a half slice of American cheese. Put a lid on top, turn off the heat, and let the cheese melt.
- Take the sliders out of the skillet, place on slider buns, add the toppings of your choice, and serve immediately.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Do not over mix the beef. Mix just until the seasonings are combined or the sliders turn out dense and tough.
- Press the patties thin. They puff a little as they cook, so a thin patty gives you the right slider shape and a better crust.
- Get the skillet hot first. A properly preheated pan is what gives you that deep, crispy sear.
- Flip only once. Resist the urge to press or flip repeatedly, that squeezes out the juices.
- Rest before cooking, not after. The room temperature rest helps these little patties cook through evenly.
- Toast the buns. A quick toast in the skillet adds flavor and keeps the buns from going soggy.
Serving Ideas and Suggestions
Cheeseburger Sliders are made for sharing, so I love piling a platter high and letting everyone grab a couple. They are perfect for game day, birthday parties, or an easy weeknight dinner the kids actually get excited about. Set out a toppings bar with pickles, diced onion, lettuce, tomato, and all the sauces.
For a full spread, pair them with crispy fries or a cool side. They go great next to our Frito chili pie casserole for a casual crowd, or serve them buffet style with our Italian sliders cold sub sandwich so guests can mix and match. When I want a heartier table, I add our spaghetti and meatballs for the pasta lovers.
However you serve them, these little burgers always disappear first, so do not be shy about doubling the batch.

Cheeseburger Sliders FAQs
An 80/20 blend is the sweet spot. The extra fat keeps the sliders juicy and adds that classic beefy flavor, while leaner beef can dry out on the thin patties.
Yes. Shape the patties, layer them between plastic wrap, and refrigerate up to a day ahead or freeze for up to three months. Cook straight from chilled, adding a minute or two if frozen.
A cast iron skillet gives the best crust, but any heavy bottom skillet works. You can also cook these on a griddle or grill if you prefer.
Keep it classic with pickles, diced onion, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mustard. These are a blank canvas, so pile on whatever your family loves.
Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave so the beef stays tender, then add fresh buns.
Letting the shaped patties sit at room temperature for about fifteen minutes helps them cook evenly and faster, so you get a great crust without overcooking the center.

I made these (minus cheese) for a Super Bowl party. Everyone said how good they were and I had a request for the recipe. I am eager to try a full sized version!
I’ve made these twice, and both times people asked me what the recipe was. They were shocked when I mentioned the brown sugar. I use a home made bun spread of 1/4 cup mayo plus 2 Tbl ketchup and 1 Tbl mustard and add a dill pickle slice. Really great sliders.
These cheeseburger sliders would go so fast at my house! Love this recipe – thank you!!
Sliders are seriously one of my favorite go-to meals 😀 Can’t wait to try your recipe!
