I really like myself a good glass of tea. Coming from the south we love any kind of sweet tea or flavored tea and this Hibiscus Tea Recipe is one that I have been making for ages.
Not only beautiful and naturally colored this tea has a lot of health benefits as well such as helping hypertension, lowering blood pressure, reducing blood sugar levels, and more.
The flavor from a flower you wouldn’t expect it to taste so good, but it really really does. We love this Hibiscus Tea served over ice more than we like it served hot.
This is just a personal preference and one that you can choose when you do make it yourself. But on a hot summer’s day with a cold drink in my hand, it just can’t get any better than that.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Water
Dried hibiscus flowers
Lemon juice
Hone
Ice
Sparkling water
Lemon slices, optional
HOW TO MAKE A HIBISCUS TEA RECIPE:
- Add water to a small saucepan and bring it to boil over medium-high heat. Remove the pot from the heat and place it on the countertop.
- Add the hibiscus flowers and let them steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the hibiscus and cool the tea to room temperature.
- Add the lemon juice and honey, stir until combined and the honey is dissolved. Taste and add more honey if desired.
- Take 2 tall glasses, add ice to each glass.
- Add the cooled hibiscus tea mixture to each glass and top the glass with sparkling water. Add lemon slices and serve chilled.

WHERE CAN I FIND DRIED HIBISCUS FLOWERS?
Surprisingly they can be found in a lot of grocery stores. We have seen them at Walmart mainly but you can also order them off of amazon or get them from an herb shop as well.
You will need the whole dried flower for this recipe, so don’t get anything that says leave or parts, the whole flower is needed to make this.
WHAT IS HIBISCUS TEA?
Hibiscus Tea is an herbal tea that is infused with the hibiscus flower with water and additional flavorings if desired, we use honey and lemon juice.
It is served hot or cold and has a tart-like cranberry flavor that makes it a really enjoyable drink to sip on.
HOW TO STORE:
This Hibiscus Tea Recipe can be brewed and then stored covered tightly in a pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you are serving it cold then nothing needs to be done, if you want it warm just set it over the stove until it is heated up.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- We like to add some lemon juice and honey to give this some added flavor, this is optional.
- You will need the whole dried hibiscus flower.
- You can double or triple this recipe to make a larger batch to keep in the refrigerator to serve later
- This can be served warm or cold, that is a personal preference.
