- Canned beans give you a head start. Starting with quality canned baked beans means all the slow work is done; you just build big flavor on top.
- Bacon adds smoky depth. Cooking the bacon first and simmering the beans in a little of its fat layers in rich, smoky flavor.
- Honey and mustard balance it. A touch of sweet honey and tangy mustard make these taste homemade, not canned.
- Simmering thickens the sauce. A quick uncovered simmer reduces the liquid into a glossy, syrupy sauce that clings to every bean.
- It is ready in 30 minutes. No soaking, no oven, no waiting; perfect for last-minute cookouts.
- It feeds a crowd cheaply. A couple of pantry cans plus a few add-ins stretch into a big batch everyone loves.
