This fun Tik Tok Ramen turns plain instant ramen noodles into a sweet-spicy dish bursting with savory flavors.

Best of all, it’s done in just a few minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights, lazy weekends, or a late-night snack when you just can’t wait for that pizza delivery.

Imagine a bowl of cooked noodles coated in a sauce made of brown sugar, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, and a pat of melted butter.

I know, it sounds like a strange combo, but trust me—somehow it just works. The sauce is sweet, salty, and a little spicy all at once.

If you’re like me and enjoy a bit of spicy food, you can toss in extra chili flakes or garlic powder to really heat things up.

Not sure if you’ll find all the ingredients at your local grocery store? Don’t sweat it—instant noodles are everywhere these days, and the rest of the ingredients are pantry staples like brown sugar and butter.

If you’re feeling fancy, top it all off with a fried egg, bagel seasoning, or green onions for a fun twist on the usual. Sound good? Let’s dive into this Tik Tok Ramen!

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

  1. Quick and Easy: You only need a few pantry staples and about ten minutes total.
  2. Packed with Flavor: From the sweet brown sugar to the salty soy sauce and red pepper flakes, every bite is a kick of savory flavors—no bland seasoning packet in sight.
  3. Highly Adaptable: Feel free to add poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or a splash of sesame oil to change up the taste.

HOW TO MAKE TIK TOK RAMEN:

  1. Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil.
  2. Add the ramen noodles and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to break them up. Drain and run cold water over them to stop the cooking process, drain well, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  4. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, stirring constantly for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and cook for 1 minute or until bubbling.
  6. Add the noodles to the pan and coat in the sauce, I find using a pair of tongs helps for this step.
  7. Push the noodles to one side of the skillet. Crack an egg and scramble it right in the pan; mix with the noodles.
  8. Place on your serving plate and top with scallions and everything but the bagel seasoning if using, serve immediately.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

Honestly, the sky’s the limit.

Green onions, bagel spice, sesame seeds, or a little lime juice if you want a citrus kick.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try a drizzle of table spoon fish sauce or a pinch of poppy seeds.

Absolutely! If you have leftover chicken, beef, or even shrimp, just stir it in at the side of the pan.

For a heartier meal, you can cook bacon bits or ground pork with some sesame oil for a nice twist.

If you’re a seafood fan, adding in some fresh shrimp after you cook noodles is a great thing, too.

Yeah!! Ramen can handle all kinds of different flavors.

  • Scrambled eggs on the side of the skillet before tossing everything together.
  • A dash of garlic powder for extra flavor if you’re out of fresh garlic.
  • A sprinkle of chili crisp if you love spiciness.
  • Bok choy or spinach for a veggie boost.
  • Sesame oil for a subtle nutty note.
  • A squirt of japanese mayonnaise on top (trust me, it’s weirdly good).
  • Chili flakes if you want more heat than the recipe offers.
  • A spoonful of your favorite homemade sauce like sweet chili or lime juice for tartness.
  • Sautéed mushrooms if you’re craving an earthy flavor.
  • Cubed tofu for extra protein if you’re going meatless.

There are always options here. Try a thing or two from the following list.

  • Use avocado oil instead of butter if you’re cutting dairy.
  • Swap fresh garlic for a pinch of garlic powder if you don’t have fresh cloves.
  • Try tamari sauce or coconut aminos if you’re watching your soy intake.
  • If you’re on a gluten-free diet, look for gluten-free instant ramen noodles or rice noodles.
  • Out of brown sugar? Use honey or maple syrup, though the flavor will be slightly different.
  • Short on soy sauce? A tablespoon tamari or fish sauce can add a savory punch (just taste before adding more salt).

Refrigerator
Place leftovers in an airtight container and pop them in the fridge.

They’ll stay good for up to 3 days, but keep in mind that the noodles may soak up a lot of the sauce.

Reheat gently on medium heat in a skillet with a splash of chicken broth or water to loosen them up.

Freezer
Freezing cooked noodles isn’t usually recommended because they can turn mushy.

If you must freeze them, store them in a small bowl or container for up to 1 month.

Thaw overnight in the fridge and then reheat. The texture might not be perfect, but the flavor should still be fine.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Don’t Overcook the Noodles: Watch those instant ramen noodles carefully, especially if you like them al dente. A mushy noodle can ruin all your hard work!
  • Adjust Spiciness: Feel free to add or reduce red pepper flakes to suit your heat tolerance. If you’re a spicy food lover, add more chili flakes or even a teaspoon of sambal oelek.
  • Play with Sauces: A bit of tbsp soy sauce, tablespoon fish sauce, or a dash of lime juice can instantly change the flavor. Experiment to find your favorite combination.
  • Melt Butter Slowly: Using medium-high heat can scorch your butter quickly. Keep it at a medium heat to maintain that sweet, nutty flavor.
  • Make it Creamy: Adding a spoonful of Japanese mayo or cream cheese can turn this into a luxuriously creamy dish.
  • Keep an Eye on the Pan: The sugar in the sauce can burn if left unattended. Stir often, especially once you add in the brown sugar.

Not impressed. We found it really bland and wished we just made ramen noodles our normal way.
