FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

Yes, you can use different flavors.

Any flavor of cake mix you like, really! Chocolate, strawberry, or funfetti would all be delicious!

Just make sure to heat treat the cake mix if you’re concerned about consuming raw flour.

Trust me, it’s totally worth the little bit of effort.

I think these cake shooters are way better than actual birthday cake.

It totally is! Something to think about, though.

Raw cake mix can carry a risk of foodborne illness, so it’s best to heat treat it before using it in this recipe.

To do this, spread the cake mix on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes.

This will make it safe to eat. I always like to take note of this on a recipe card.

  • Irish Cream: Add a splash of Irish cream for a creamy texture.
  • Crushed Cookies: Top with crushed cookies for added texture.
  • Fruit Puree: Swirl in some fruit puree for a fruity twist.
