Here is the deal. Every Friday morning I hand you five easy dinners for the week ahead, one treat for the weekend, and a one page shopping list you can print and carry into the store. This is week six, the first week of November, so the dinners are cozy and the treat is a little taste of Thanksgiving. Five different proteins, one slow cooker night, one fish fry, and a few pantry items that pull double duty. Print the list, shop over the weekend, and dinner is handled Monday through Friday.
Why This Week Works
- Five different proteins. Chicken Monday, beef Tuesday, Italian sausage Wednesday, shrimp Thursday, cod Friday. Nobody is staring at the same plate twice.
- Tuesday cooks itself and feeds you twice. The award winning chili goes in the slow cooker and makes twelve servings, so lunches are covered for days.
- The fresh stuff overlaps on purpose. One bunch of basil finishes Monday’s Marry Me chicken and Wednesday’s tortellini bake. Garlic powder, onion powder and paprika season Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
- Thursday is faster than takeout. Honey garlic shrimp and vegetables in one skillet in about 30 minutes.
- Friday is fish fry night. A box of Bisquick and a cold beer make a crispy golden batter without measuring a pile of flours.
- The treat is a Thanksgiving preview. Pecan pie brownies, half pecan pie and half fudgy brownie, baked in one pan.

Thursday: Honey Garlic Shrimp

This Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry is a quick 30 minute dinner with juicy shrimp, crisp veggies, and a glossy sweet and savory sauce. Better than takeout! Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry
Serving note: Have everything chopped before the pan gets hot, because this goes fast. Serve it over white rice with a lime wedge on the side.
Friday: Beer Battered Fish

This easy beer batter for fish uses Bisquick pancake mix for a crispy, golden shell that fries up light every single time. Fish fry night starts here! Easy Beer Batter for Fish (with Bisquick Pancake Mix)
Serving note: Fish fry Friday. Keep the beer ice cold, fry in small batches, and serve with lemon wedges, tartar sauce and a basket of fries.
