Slow Cooker Cajun Turkey Breast

Welcome back to the Thanksgiving series! Today we are sharing the highlight of any Holiday dinner, the MEAT (sorry, vegetarians!). As you all know it is just Jeremy and I, no little ones yet! Aside from the family get together I like to make a smaller Thanksgiving day meal just for the two of us. So I just use a turkey with a double breast, no other parts attached. You can find these easily around this time of year. This will easily serve 6 people!

I made my own cajun seasoning because Jeremy can’t eat anything spicy. Feel free to use whatever cajun seasoning you like or follow my mild version below.

Ingredients

Seasoning recipe adapted from here:

2 tsp season salt

2 tsp garlic powder

2 1/2 tsp paprika

1 tsp ground black pepper

1 tsp onion powder

1 1/4 tsp dried oregano

1 1/4 tsp dried thyme

Remaining ingredients needed for recipe:

turkey breast portion, dethawed

3 carrots, washed and cut in half

2 stalks celery, cut in half

1/2 white onion, cut in large chunks

3 cloves garlic, no peel

2 bay leaves

Directions

For the seasoning:

Mix all ingredients together. Place in an air tight container or zip lock bag until ready to use.

For the turkey:

In the bottom of your crock pot, place the vegetables, garlic and bay leaves. For the turkey, take 2 tsps of the cajun seasoning blend and rub it all over the outside and under the skin.

Place this on top of the vegetables in the slow cooker.

Let this cook on low for 4-6 hours or high 3-5 hours. Make sure to check the inside temperature using a thermometer, you want it to read at least 165 degrees. Take the turkey out the crock pot and remove the meat section by cutting down alone the breast bone. Cut into slices and serve with your desired sides! If you want to make a gravy, you can thicken the drippings that accumulated in the bottom of the crock put with a cornstarch slurry mixture, after taking out the bay leaves and vegetables.Slow Cooker Cajun Turkey Breast recipe from https://ThisSillyGirlsLife.com #CajunTurkeyBreast #SlowCooker #Thanksgiving

That’s it! Super easy right, now you have the oven ready for anything else you need to cook! I hope you enjoyed this recipe!

  5. This looks amazing!!! I am not a huge turkey fan but I am definitely giving this a try. I am always nervous things dry out without liquid but that doesn’t seem to be the case in your photos.
