WHAT IS THE BEST WINE TO USE?
We like using a dry red wine for this recipe so we used a Merlot. Another great option that you can use is a Cabernet Sauvignon.
Both these wines work great with the ingredients added to them and also with the pears themselves enhancing the flavor without taking much away.
WHAT PEARS SHOULD I USE?
I like to use Bosc for these, they are a great sweetness and really hold their shape when they are simmering and absorb the flavor well.
We also like to use Anjou pears as well, those are our two preferences when it comes to these Poached Pears. So you do have your pick!
HOW TO STORE:
If you have leftovers, do not toss out your liquid. The best way to store your pears is in the poaching liquid in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for 5-7 days.
