Ingredients

For the French Toast Sticks:

8 slices of day-old white bread
6 tablespoons Nutella
3 large eggs
⅓ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons salted butter

For the Coating:

4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Cut the crusts off the bread slices.
8 slices of day-old white bread
Spread the Nutella evenly over 4 of the bread slices and place another slice on top to make 4 sandwiches.
6 tablespoons Nutella
Cut each sandwich into 3 thick pieces, lengthwise and set aside.
Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla to a shallow dish and whisk well.
3 large eggs, ⅓ cup whole milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a separate shallow dish, combine cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
4 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2 tablespoons salted butter
Once the butter is melted, dip each stick in the egg mixture, let the excess drip off, and place it in the pan. Cook in batches until golden brown on each side.
Use tongs to transfer the sticks immediately into the cinnamon mixture and roll to coat on all sides. Serve with more Nutella for dipping.

Notes

You can use other breads for this recipe, see above.
Dip in some maple syrup, strawberry syrup, hot fudge, or honey for a twist.
These can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
If you dislike cinnamon, you can mix in nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice instead.
