Instructions
Place the heavy cream, ½ cup of the powdered sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric hand mixer or in the body of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, whip until stiff peaks form, and set in the fridge until ready to use.
2 cups heavy cream,
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar,
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Whisk together the milk and pudding mixes in a large bowl for 2 minutes until smooth.
4 cups cold whole milk,
2 3.4 boxes instant French vanilla pudding mix
In the body of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or in a large bowl with an electric hand mixer, whip the cream cheese until smooth.
8 ounces cream cheese
Add the pudding mixture a little at a time until fully incorporated with no steaks.
Fold half the whipped cream until no streaks are left, then repeat with the remaining whipped cream.
Set mixture aside in the fridge until ready to assemble.
Add half of the Oreos to a food processor and pulse until large crumbs are formed; place in a large bowl.
16 ounces Oreos
Add the remaining Oreos to the food processor and pulse until fine crumbs are formed—place in the bowl with the other Oreos.
Stir the melted butter in with the Oreos until everything is well coated.
1/2 cup salted butter
To assemble, add ¼ of the pudding mixture to the bottom of a standard-sized trifle dish.
Top with ¼ of the cookie crumbs.
Repeat three more times until all of the ingredients are used.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 6 hours to set, or overnight is best.
When ready to serve, add gummi worms, whipped cream, and more cookie crumbs for garnish, optional.
gummi worms for garnish,
Whipped cream for garnish
Notes
Stick your large mixing bowl in the fridge before whipping cream.
Pulse Oreos to fine crumbs and bigger bits for that classic dirt pudding texture.
Let cream cheese sit out a bit so it whips smooth, not lumpy.
Spread the pudding layer and Oreo crumbs flat for pretty slices.
Bury some gummy worms in the middle for a funny surprise.
