Using an ice cream scoop, divide into 6 equal portions.
Roll into balls by hand and place on top of a sheet of plastic wrap until all the portions are rolled.
Place another sheet of plastic wrap on top and using a heavy bottom glass, press down in the center to form a patty. Repeat for each burger.
Let burgers sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, this will help with an even cook and they will cook faster.
Heat a cast iron or heavy bottom skillet over medium heat, once hot, cook the burgers about 2-3 minutes on each side until a crust forms or until desired doneness. You only need to flip once.
Top with burger with a half slice of the cheese. Put a lid on top, turn off the heat, and allow the cheese to melt.
3 slices American cheese
Take burgers out of skillet and place on slider buns and add toppings of your choice. Serve immediately.
