Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds baby yellow potatoes, or potatoes of your choice washed, cut into 1/2 inch dice
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup whole milk half and half works too
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 5 cracks fresh black pepper

Instructions

  • Place potatoes and garlic into a medium size pot. Fill with water, making sure the potatoes are fully submerged with about 3 inches of water on top. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Strain potatoes through a fine mesh strainer. Add back to the pot. Add the remaining ingredients and mash to the consistency you want.
