Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

  • 2 sticks butter unsalted, softened
  • 1 1/2 Cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream together the sugar and butter until mixed. Ad in the egg and extract. Mix to combine. In a separate bowl, sift the remaining ingredients (using only 2 1/2 cups of flour). Little by little, add in the dry mixture until combined. Dough should be thick and not wet. If it seems too lose, add in the remaining flour.
  • Let dough sit in fridge for about 30 minutes then, roll it out to 1/4 inch thick, use more flour for dusting. Cut out the shape you prefer and place on baking sheet. Bake for 7-8 minutes, the cookies are done if they start to turn a very light golden brown on the edges.
  • Let cool on sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to wired rack to cool completely. Decorate and enjoy!
