Ultimate Turkey Bacon Cranberry Sandwich, an amazing sandwich on a toasted onion roll, featuring cranberry sauce, smoked Gouda, turkey and of course, BACON… perfect for game day!
Now that football season is officially in full swing, get ready to see an onslaught of go-to tailgating recipes! I’ve already been seeing them from other bloggers and they all bring something exciting to the season!
What I wanted to focus on in today’s post is making a restaurant quality sandwich that is easy to duplicate, that would be perfect for tailgating… or my favorite; “home-gating”!
That’s right, we actually prefer to stay home on game day. Be it just the two of us, or having our family and friends over for a viewing party of our favorite teams! I think this is a much more fun option personally, you get to relax at home, see the plays better and serving a wide variety of foods is always fun!
For my “restaurant quality” sandwich, to me it starts with the base, the bread! Without a good bread, your sandwich will just not stand up as good as it can be. For amazing quality bread, I reach for Cobblestone Bread Co. first, they have a wide variety of rolls and wraps perfect for game day!
For today’s recipe, I’m focusing on the Toasted Onion Roll variety from CBC, it is my personal favorite!
You really can’t go wrong with the others as well. The Corn Dusted Kaiser Rolls are perfect for burgers, the White Sub Rolls would make a killer Italian sausage sandwich piled high with grilled peppers and onions, and of course, the Sweet Party Rolls are the most amazing vehicle for Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sliders with Pickled Red Onions… WOAH!
BUT…. you guys, this Turkey Bacon Cranberry Sandwich is something truly heaven sent. It is salty, smoky, sweet, tart, creamy, crunchy, soft… every nuance of flavor and texture is covered in this one over the top sandwich!
I know what you’re thinking… cranberry sauce on a sandwich?! That’s right, up to a few years ago I would have thought the same thing. But, just a smear of whole berry cranberry sauce adds so much dimension to the flavor. It is a sweet and tart condiment that pairs perfectly with the other ingredients…. trust me!
My inspiration for this sandwich comes from the cold cut platters served at so many parties. I just thought I’d amp it up a bit!
There is not much of a “recipe” to this post. The ingredients listed will be for multiple sandwiches, you can add as little or as much of each ingredient as you wish!

This “recipe” really can’t get any easier and just wait for that first bite, wow!
I just love the added onion-y flavor the onion roll provides, I don’t think you need actual onions on the sandwich at all. BUT, you won’t hurt my feelings if you add some on yourself!
