The Power of Eyebrow Makeup

Hi!! So, yes this is my first beauty related post. Why? Because I’m not really all that great with different beauty stuff but this tip has really helped me a lot so I thought I would share it with you! Have you ever thought about putting makeup on your eyebrows? Why would you do that, you ask? It really helps to define your eyebrow shape, fill in any patchy spots and really helps to “frame” the face. Once I started doing it I really found this was the finishing touch I needed to pull together my look!

The Power of Eyebrow Makeup

As you can see from this before and after picture, the end result is not over powering but it definitely gives a more defined look. And, the great part is you don’t need any fancy makeup tools or kits like you may think. All I use for my eyebrow makeup is three things.

You need eyeshadow that matches your hair color and is a MATTE shade. Shimmery colors will NOT work for this!! An eyebrow comb and an angled brush, The comb I got at Sally’s beauty supply in a cheap pack of brushes and the angled brush I got at wal-mart. First, you use the comb to just comb through the eyebrows to get all the hairs going in the same direction. Then, with the angled brush just dip the flat tip straight in the color and tap off any excess. Just tap it the one time, don’t go trying to get a ton of color on it. Then, just brush it through the length of the eye brows defining the outer edges. It will take a little practice so I suggest just trying it out a couple times before actually doing your full make up. Then, once again use the comb to put the hairs back in place. This will also help brush through the eyeshadow in case you were a little heavy handed in an area. Here I have done all my makeup except for the eyebrows:

This is with one eyebrow done, so you can see the subtle difference.

And, here is with both done, much better!

I usually run out the door without makeup, but I find that my eyes tend to disappear when I wear glasses- if I don’t put on at least a little liner. I think I’ll try it with my brows…my grandma told me once I needed to do it when I sent her a photo. Good post!

Thanks!! I know us ladies with glasses have to try even harder to bring out our eyes. The liner and brows will help a lot!

I have to use makeup on my brows b/c they are a little sparse. I’ve done it for years and my face looks naked without it!

My college age daughter and I were just talking about this today! Yes, such a easy finishing touch makes a big difference- we use eyeshadow as well. You look fabulous with or without your glasses. Happy summertime πŸ™‚

Being a redhead, I always hated wearing makeup because nothing ever looked right. They just don’t make colors for redheads unless you want to spend a ton of money on specialty stuff :/ Love the eyebrow tip!

Eyebrow makeup really does work wonders! I use an eyebrow pencil, and it helps fill in where I might over pluck or just helps my brows look thicker. πŸ™‚

    Dana,
I linked to your post through “Sew Many Ways”. I’ve never commented on a blog before but I like your idea so much, I had to say thanks!! I have auburn hair and over the years unfortunately my eyebrows have completely faded to almost non-existence. I have used various eyebrow pencils and such, but they are usually way too dark for the rest of my features. I never thought to use eyeshadow. I will definitely try this out. Thanks for the GREAT idea.

Hi Dana, I’m visiting via Sew Many Ways. Anything eyebrow related I click on, πŸ™‚

My brows are so fair. I like your tips and will give the powder a go. I’m curious, are you using a brow powder or a matte eye shadow powder? Your brows really do like natural. Well done!

Thanks sooo much. I just use a matte eye shadow. I actually have to combine two shades of brown to get the color I want so you may need to do the same and experiment a little with it!
