Italian Sausage Pizza

So, yeah… I was trying to come up with some really snazzy title for this recipe (if this really can be called a “recipe”) and nothing great came to mind. A few went through my little head: Super Duper Easy Pizza! Semi-Homemade Sausage Pizza (This was my favorite but I thought I might get sued by Sandra Lee or Food Network so I decided against it. But wouldn’t it be amaze balls if Food Network contacted lil old me?! *keep dreamin’*) And, while this IS super duper easy and semi-homemade and…pizza….nothing snazzy came to mind. So, here you have it folks, Italian Sausage Pizza, ta-da!

Italian Sausage Pizza

Italian Snausage Pizza (haha! you see what I did there?!)

So, this has got to be one of the easiest yet crowd pleasing (if you count my hubby and I as a crowd) meals you will ever make! This is epically good! Is epically a word? Well it is now people! YUM! So you will need a few ingredients, of course!

Pizza Ingredients

1 ea            Pizza Crust, I recommend Pillsbury brand in thin crust

1 ea            Mozzarella cheese 8 oz package, or you can shred yourself! Welcome to the gun show…

2ish Cups   Prepared Marinara Sauce (Ring a Bell? This is meal number 2 from my Spaghetti Sauce Recipe.)

2-3 ea        Italian Sausage links, I used 2.5 links, what was leftover from Spaghetti night

Parmesan Cheese for sprinkling

Garlic Powder for sprinkling

Oregano for sprinkling (I like sprinkling things.)

First, pre-heat oven to directions on back of crust packaging. Then, take the sausage out of the casing. Place in frying pan over medium heat and *smush* with the back of a spatula. Like-so:

Smushed sausage

Smushed Sausage

I like to make sure my pan is really hot when I put the meat in so it gets a nice sear/crust on the outside. Go ahead and cook this about 3/4 of the way through and then let drain on a paper towel while you get the crust ready.

par cooked sausage

Par cooked sausage. Par cooking helps to make sure that it will not over cook in the oven and become dry hard crumbles.

Place crust in oven and par bake to instructions. Take crust out of oven and, adding the amount of sauce you prefer, evenly distribute the marinara all over the crust. Add 3/4 of the mozzarella.

Saucy Mozz

Add the sausage, evenly over the entire pizza. Top with remaining mozzarella. Sprinkle the Parmesan all over the top. Also, lightly sprinkle the garlic powder and oregano. Trust me on this, it makes all the difference!

Pizza

Pop that baby back in the oven until it’s all ooey gooey cheesy goodness and a nice crisp bottom crust. I always let it cook for the longest amount of time the directions suggest so I get that great crust. BUT, my oven may be different than yours so take it out when you’re satisfied. I then transfer the pizza on to a cutting board with two spatulas. It is MUCH easier to cut this way, out of the pan. Cut to your desired sized pieces and ENJOY!

Heaven.

Heaven.

This really is so freakin’ good I can hardly contain myself. The best part is it takes like 15 minutes to make! You’re welcome. 😉

  1. This looks like something I could make after work that wouldn’t take a long time. Maybe I could use leftover taco meat and make a Mexican Pizza! Keep up the good work!
