Baked Brie is one of my all-time favorite appetizers! With minimal ingredients, you can have a delicious and tasty treat that everyone will enjoy.
How do I describe this epic appetizer? It is literally a volcano of brie dripping with honey and crunchy walnuts. Served alongside crostini and smokey salami, and more this combo is dynamite!
This is also super easy to make, which again, makes it one of my favorites ever. This recipe is literally fool-proof and anyone can make it, I promise!
You know how much we love easy recipes around here and this Baked Brie is just the beginning and will be great for any fall or holiday parties you are planning.
This is also such a versatile appetizer that you can pretty much do with it what you’d like, but we love it with honey and walnuts, and I highly suggest trying it this way.
Some of my other favorite holiday appetizers I have on my site include Creamy Cranberry Pancetta Bites, Turkey Pinwheels and Caramelized Onion Bacon Tarts.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- This recipe has only 5 ingredients, so super easy to whip up.
- Done in under an hour, it’s not a lengthy process.
- You can serve this with whatever dippers you like!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Honey
Walnuts
Puff pastry
Brie
Egg
HOW TO MAKE BAKED BRIE:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper, set aside.
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the honey and walnuts.
- Place the puff pastry on the parchment-lined sheet tray. Place the brie in the center of the puff pastry.
- Add ⅓ of the honey/walnut mixture on top.
- Fold the corners of the puff pastry over itself to enclose the brie. Pinch the seams together to make sure it is sealed.
- Brush the beaten egg all over generously. Bake for 30-35 minutes, tenting with foil halfway through so it doesn’t get too brown.
- Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Drizzle the remaining honey/walnut mixture on top or serve it on the side so your guests can serve themselves.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE RIND OFF THE BRIE?
No, you actually will want to keep the rind on the brie itself. This helps the brie keep its shape when baking and the rind is also edible so there is no need.
Since it is wrapped up in the puff pastry you can take it off if you want to but it is absolutely not necessary and is an extra step that you do not need to take if you do not want to.
BAKED BRIE ALTERNATIVE AND ADD-ONS:
Use a larger wheel of brie, just make sure to roll out the puff pastry into about 12×12 inches, then follow the steps the same.
Use other toppings such as caramelized onions, roasted garlic, crumbled bacon, cranberry sauce, pepper jelly, with jam, the list goes on and on!
You don’t have to place more toppings on the top of the baked brie, I just thought it made for a nice presentation. You can stuff everything inside instead!
That way when you bust into this melty delicious wrapped cheese you get a burst of delicious ingredients with it, that is my favorite part! But I do love topping it as well.
But whatever you prefer is absolutely ok, you need to make this your own if you decide to do it another way but this Baked Brie with Walnuts and Honey is my favorite.
HOW TO STORE:
There are multiple ways to store this recipe and I’m going to go through them with you!
- UNBAKED – You can freeze this Baked Brie unbaked, follow the recipe directions until you are to bake, you can then store it in a freezer bag flat in your freezer. When you are ready to bake, brush with another egg wash and bake in the oven straight from the freezer.
- BAKED – Once you have baked your brie and eaten what you have wanted to, your can place a Tupperware container or a ziptop bag and place it in the refrigerator, this will last up to 2-4 days. To reheat place in oven on a baking sheet at the lowest temp setting for about 25 minutes.
