Dr Pepper Cherry Brownie Sundae, a classic, family style brownie sundae topped off with a white chocolate Dr Pepper Cherry syrup!
Now that it is my absolute favorite season, I get to talk about all of my favorite things! Yes, most of them have to do with food, but did you know sports are another one of my favorite things?
I bet you didn’t know that! Well, okay, to be honest the actual watching of the sports isn’t my favorite… that’s Jeremy’s favorite part. But, my favorite is all the making of the food to eat while watching all of the sports. One of those sports being COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
Oh yea, we really get into college football around these parts (and by we, I mean Jeremy). But, you know that means some epic football watching food is devoured.
You know, the usual suspects, nachos and sliders and buffalo wings…oh my. By the time half time rolls around we are stuffed.
Until I bring out the epic treat(s)!
Oh yes, one of our favorite treats to have during college football would be an epic brownie sundae.
You know me, I can never just present you with your run of the mill brownie sundae. I made a white chocolate Dr Pepper Cherry syrup to go on top. Oh yea. Forget that bottled chocolate sauce, this is where it’s at!
Of course, to make this epic sundae I first had to shop for all the ingredients. A lot of the time I get inspired by just walking around the store and seeing the different products and brands and concocting recipes in my mind as I stroll around.
Well, I was in Publix grabbing some goodies, as I do and I stumbled upon this display with Dr Pepper on it.
Seeing it, I immediately thought about how unique Dr Pepper is with its signature blend of 23 flavors and it got me thinking about how I could incorporate it into a sweet treat. There is really nothing like it. Plus, enjoying an ice-cold Dr Pepper is a college football tradition.
Then it hit me, Dr Pepper Cherry is where it’s at! (In my opinion.) So, I ran over to the soda aisle and grabbed a 2 liter and a 12 pack of Diet Dr Pepper Cherry.
Thinking of the cherry aspect, I immediately thought about maraschino cherries, then naturally a sundae came to mind. Off to the freezer section I went!
I snatched up a carton of EDY’S® Ice Cream in plain vanilla because… yum. Since 1928 EDY’S has celebrated togetherness with every delicious scoop!
I grabbed the rest of the ingredients I knew I would need and went on home.
Right now, Dr Pepper has this limited edition packaging out just for college football season.
First, you need to get your brownies baked and syrup made ahead of time. (I used brownies I bought in the Publix bakery, and you can too!)
White Chocolate Dr Pepper Cherry Syrup
- ¾ Cup Dr Pepper Cherry
- ¾ Cup heavy cream
- 2 Cups white chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste or extract
- Place all ingredients into a small sauce pot except for the vanilla. Over medium low heat, stir constantly until chocolate melts. Take off the heat and add in the vanilla, let cool. Pour into an air-tight container and store in the fridge. Pour over EDY’S ice cream or your favorite treat!
Making this epic sundae is so easy! Just lay out your brownies, top with ice cream, the White Chocolate Dr Pepper Cherry Syrup, whipped cream and don’t forget that maraschino cherry!
As you can see, I served it family style! But, feel free to let your guests serve themselves or make them individual size, it’s all up to you! I just thought it looked extra yummy like this!
