Hello This Silly Girl’s Life readers! It’s me again =D Cami from TitiCrafty! Today I’m sharing a cute and simple way to extend kids pants life. When kids start growing, sometimes the only issue is the length of the pants and it’s a waste of money throwing them out or giving them away without trying to save them. I saved a special one with a easy trick for revamping it.
DIY Revamping Kids Pants to Extend Their Life
This is super easy, have you noticed how much I love easy crafts??? LOL. Well I do love easy projects, I love to see final results quick LOL. This took a couple of hours even taking pictures.
What you need:
- Pants
- A cute fabric of your choice
- Thread
- Scissor
- Ruler
- Fabric marker/pencil
First thing, put the pants on your girl or boy and measure how much more length you need to add to it. For example, you need 1.5 inches you add 1 more inch and then double it. So it would be 1.5 + 1 = 2.5 x 2 = 5 inches.
Then measure the width of the bottom hem of the pant. Double that measure and add 1/2 inch on each end as seam allowance.
Then cut a rectangle for the pocket. The measure will depend on the area of your pants. Leave 1 inch on each side as seam allowance. Turn it under 1/2 inch, then iron it, turn it under another 1/2 inch to inclose the raw edge, iron it again. Stitch one short side as the opening of the pocket and pin in place.
For the bottom fabric, Turn the long sides under 1/2 inch and then iron it.
Fold and put together both short sides and stitch 1/2 inch away from the edge.
Iron the seam allowance open like this.
Fold again putting together the hems like in the image bellow.
Now find the seam between legs of your pants and match with the extension seam, place the pants hem between both layers of the new fabric extension. Pin in place.
The pants hem will be sandwiched between both sides of the fabric.
Then stitch around the edge of the extension and iron it.

Fold the extension so it would hide the seam.
There you have it! A new pair of pants! I love how it turned out and my girl loved it too!
it gives me a huge motivation to keep making fun stuff and crafts!!!

This is adorable! I don’t have kids, but I’m pretty sure I want to do this to my own pants. 😛 Thanks for sharing! Definitely pinning for later…just in case. 😉

Love the idea of lengthening the pants! I recently did a blog post on quick knee patch fixes and someone asked about making them longer. I had to share your post on my FB page!
