We love making these for parties, game days, and even holidays. They are great all year long and everyone always goes crazy for them.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- This recipe can be doubled to make more to serve a larger crowd.
- Perfect for any occasion.
- They are easy to throw together and great for a make-ahead appetizer.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE BELOW):
Cream cheese
Sour cream
Dried ranch dressing seasoning
Cheddar cheese
Red bell pepper
Bacon
Scallions
Burrito-size flour tortillas
Ranch dressing for dipping, optional
HOW TO MAKE CHEDDAR BACON RANCH PINWHEELS:
- Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning in a small bowl with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
- Fold in the cheddar cheese, bell peppers, bacon, and scallions until combined.
- Layout the tortillas on a clean work surface and spread a thin layer over the tortilla, leaving a ½ inch border all around.
- Tightly roll the tortilla into a log and wrap it in plastic wrap tightly. Repeat with the remaining tortillas. Set in the fridge for at least 6 hours or best overnight. Cut into ½ inch slices and serve. Serve with ranch dressing for dipping, optional.
HOW LONG SHOULD THESE BE CHILLED?
For best results on texture and them holding together, we like to chill them for at least 6 hours, if not overnight. That is what makes them a great make-ahead appetizer.
CAN I USE ANOTHER TYPE OF CHEESE?
While we absolutely prefer cheddar with this recipe, other cheese will work and still taste great. Some of our other favorites include:
- White cheddar
- Monterey Jack
- Pepper Jack
- Mozzarella
CAN I USE ANY OTHER VEGETABLES IN THESE PINWHEELS?
Absolutely, if you want to give these even more flavor you can add to them. Some of our favorite additions include: chopped celery, chopped green, yellow or orange bell peppers, jalapeños, or fresh spinach.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container where they will keep for up to 3 days, any longer you run the risk of them becoming soggy.
We do not recommend freezing these pinwheels.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Make sure you use burrito-size tortillas, they are 10-inches.
- These need to chill for at least 6 hours.
- Other vegetables can be added, see above on how to do that.
- Use any of your favorite bacon for this recipe.
- You can make your own homemade dried ranch dressing instead of store bought.
- The cheese can be switched up as well, see some of our other favorites above.
- Easily double this recipe to make more.

I’ve been making pinwheels for the kids’ home lunches. This is a nice variation, but I’ll probably have to leave out the peppers for my oldest.

I made these and they were really good! I doubled the recipe and made some with red peppers and some with fresh jalepenos. The only change I’d do for when I make them again is mix all the ingredients in with the cream cheese. I thought I’d rolled them tightly enough but when I sliced the rolled up wraps stuff was falling out. If it’s all mixed in with the cream cheese maybe that wouldn’t happen – haven’t tried it yet so I don’t know. The stuff that fell out was yummy with some tortilla chips. 🙂
