Cheater Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Make this popular sandwich in about 15 minutes for an easy, yummy weeknight meal!
If you’ve never had a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, you are in for a treat. They are wonderfully hearty and flavorful. I love the combination of beef, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms and cheese. This version is super easy because it eliminates the need to slice and cook the beef by using deli roast beef slices (thus the “cheater” part of the name).

Cheater Cheesesteak Sandwiches
All you do is sautee the peppers, onions, and mushrooms, then add the beef and little cream cheese. Place that atop a hoagie roll that has been toasted in a warm oven with some garlic salt and provolone cheese, and you have a delicious, weeknight meal that comes together in about 15 minutes. These will become a family favorite for sure!
Cheater Cheesesteak Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 lb. deli roast beef slices chopped
- 2 oz. cream cheese
- 1 small green bell pepper sliced thinly
- 1/2 medium red onion sliced thinly
- 2 medium mushrooms sliced thinly
- 4 Hoagie buns or a loaf of French bread, sliced horizontally. (You may not need to use the whole loaf, depending on the size of the loaf).
- Provolone mozzarella, or Swiss cheese
- Garlic salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Open hoagie buns or French bread and sprinkle with garlic salt. Put cheese on both open surfaces of the bread. Put in the warm oven and toast until cheese is melted.
- While the bread is toasting, heat a large frying pan on the stove over medium heat. Add a little oil, then sautee the green pepper, onion, and mushrooms until tender. Add the cream cheese and deli roast beef and stir until cream cheese is melted and distributed throughout. Spoon beef and vegetable mixture on top of toasted hoagie buns or bread. If using French bread, cut the bread into sandwich-sized pieces and serve.
For dessert, why not make some ice cream, like my Dark Chocolate Raspberry Swirl Ice Cream or Blueberry Ice Cream? Either one would be the perfect finish to this simple meal!
