I really, truly cannot believe the 4th of July is right around the corner. As I have mentioned many times before, I love love love this time of year. I love all things Americana and being able to celebrate our freedom in the summer just adds to the nostalgia. Hot summer days, ice cream, pool parties, lemonade stands, streets lined with American flags… it just doesn’t get much better than that for me! The 4th of July just brings out the kid in me and I wanted to make an extra special treat mixing two American classics: milkshakes and banana splits! That’s right I made these banana split milkshakes but to elevate it to the next level, I used french vanilla Coffee-Mate instead of milk to give it an extra rich, decadent touch!
Banana Split Milkshake
I made this extra special milkshake in honor of three special people in my life. My Father-in-law, my Grandfather-in-law and my Grandpa! They all served our country at one time and I wanted to make something special for them this 4th of July.
All three of these men hold a special spot in my life and I knew they would all love this yummy American classics rendition! When I was on my weekly shopping trip to Walmart, I was looking for something to really pump up my milkshake idea. I had to get some coffee creamer anyway because, let’s face it… I go through that stuff like water! When picking up my favorite flavor, french vanilla from Coffee-Mate I noticed they had this super cute new packaging for the summer.
I’m a sucker for awesome packaging so I immediately grabbed my french vanilla flavor and on my way I went. I knew I had just got the perfect addition to my already stellar milkshake recipe!
Banana Split Milkshake
Ingredients
- 2 Cups vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 banana sliced
- 1/2 Cup Coffee-Mate french vanilla (or milk)
- 1/2 Cup whipped cream or a 3 second spray
- Hot fudge maraschino cherry, whipped cream, sprinkles for garnish
Instructions
- Add the ice cream, banana, Coffee-Mate (or milk) and whipped cream to a blender.
- Blend until smooth. Top with hot fudge, more whipped cream, sprinkles, cherry and piece of banana. Serve and enjoy!
This recipe is so simple, just throw the ingredients in the blender, mix until smooth, top with goodies and voila! Two American classics mixed into one ah-mazing dessert!
I really love the addition of the banana to the milkshake mix itself. It tastes like the best fresh banana ice cream ever! Then the addition of whipped cream, and don’t forget the french vanilla Coffee-Mate it just make it all the more rich and special.
You could even skip the toppings, but I think they are just too fun!
Yummy, I can’t wait to serve these at our Independence day get together! It would also be soooo cute to serve it in little shot glasses!!
So, what do you think? Is this something you and your military heroes will enjoy?? And, from the bottom of this lil bloggers heart, thank you so much for all you do if you are serving, have served or will serve for this amazing country!
Some exciting news about Coffee-Mate and what they are doing to support our heroes:
