Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying all that fall has brought us so far! Jeremy and I just got back from vacation! We were visiting my family in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and we had a blast, like always! Living in Florida we have basically two seasons. Summer and Fall. With the weather like it has been lately I still consider it summer here, unfortunately. We are lucky if we hit 79 degrees. So, getting a break from all the heat was long over due! Here is a short recap in pictures from our trip!
We stayed with my beautiful Aunt and got to experience the changing colors first hand. This is a picture from her yard. We don’t get to see many change in colors so this was a treat! She lives in the suburbs of Chicago (one of the most desirable cities, I might add!) about an hour outside of the downtown. Some of my fondest childhood memories took place at her house. I always feel like a kid again when I visit.
While visiting we were able to go check out my cousins new home. She lives about an hour from where we were staying. The town is Woodstock, IL and it is where one of my favorite movies, Groundhog’s Day was filmed. We drove through the downtown area when we were on our way back, and I was sad to report back that I didn’t catch any glimpses of Bill Murray, tee hee (Hey, I thought it was funny!).
It was game day for the Packers so Jeremy had to support his team! He got plenty of smack talk wearing it in front of a bunch of us Chicago-ins, don’t worry! We had so much fun being able to spend time with two of my cousins who I hardly get to see and their family. We ate smoked ribs and a bunch of fixins, we were stuffed! So yummy!
Another day while there we took a road trip to Naperville, IL. There we were able to walk around and check out some cute little shops. We also ate at Lou Malnati’s and had the deep dish pizza, of course! Unfortunately it started raining so we had to leave earlier than we liked but we still got some nice pictures from around town.
We also got to spend a lot of time with my Grandma on the trip. She is 92 years old and still gets around great! She wanted to go out to eat at Portillo’s which has a Barnelli’s pasta restaurant in it as well. I can honestly say they had the BEST raviolis I’ve ever had! Here is a picture from there, it was also our last night. )-:
Well, it flew by as it always does but we had so much fun. We can’t wait until we get to visit again!
