Want to switch up your normal salsa routine? This Avocado Salsa is a great and flavorful replacement that isn’t just for dipping but great on or in various recipes!
One of my favorite parts about eating out at a Mexican restaurant is the big helping of chips and dip you get when you sit down. I normally order a side of guac to go with my meal as well.
So I thought, why not mash the two into this Avocado Salsa?! Honestly, this has been one of our favorite salsa recipes since we started making it many years ago.
We actually like it more than a regular salsa, I’m a huge avocado fan so this really just is the perfect flavoring for me, really can’t get enough

Back in the day, when I was still working as a Chef in a restaurant there was this spot right down the road from us we used to hit up all the time after work.
It was a Mexican restaurant but what really made it special was they had this guacamole cart that went from table to table. I’m a huge fan of guacamole.
So this is one reason why I wanted to create a recipe that kinda resembled both guacamole and salsa. So adding the avocados to a quick and easy salsa recipe was the perfect combination.
HOW TO KEEP AVOCADO SALSA FOR TURNING BROWN?
The addition of lime juice will help this avocado salsa from turning brown.
The fresh citrus juice will keep the avocado from turning brown for up to one day. Anything longer than that you will run the risk of the avocado going brown.
That is the thing with avocados that we all know, they go bad quickly or they turn brown if not used right away after being cut open, we get that small window.
I really wish they stayed better longer, but the addition of citrus to this recipe will help you keep this salsa fresh for just a little longer, but freshly served is the best anyways!
HOW TO STORE:
This Avocado Salsa Recipe is best served fresh but you can store it covered tightly in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for 1 day.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Fresh lime juice is the best for this recipe, in a pinch you can use bottled.
- We like to use Roma tomatoes, but you can essentially use any tomato as long as you have a small dice.
- If you want it a little spicier, use hotter peppers.
- This can be doubled to serve more guests.
- This recipe can be used as a garnish on any of your favorite Mexican-inspired recipes as well.
